I'm willing to bet that was precisely their intent.
Rolling Stone's opinions-disguised-as-reporting style really annoys me. I gave up reading the magazine after one too many "Al Gore is the greatest" journalism pieces. I'm not a fan of McCain, but I'm also not a fan of tabloid hit-pieces.

If I were publishing Rolling Stone, I'd do the same thing they're doing.

They're a MUSIC MAGAZINE...their target audience is going to be young-ish and liberal, so attacking McCain makes perfect sense since their readership likely going to be pro-Obama.

Thing like that cover article sell magazines, and in the end, that's what it's all about to them.

BTW, I stopped reading Rolling Stone and Spin in the late 90's when I discovered I could get more and better information on the Internet (which also holds true for most magazines nowadays).

Except ECCJ, oi? (well, they've got a website, but I'd rather the magazine)

No, in general I feel that way about all magazines: you can get information on the web much quicker than in print.

Nowadays, I buy magazines because I like them, not because I need the info.

I get magazines to have reading material in the loo (they'd be long minutes if not).

I buy magazines for the pictures of naked ladies. Which I could also get for free online, but there is something special about turning pages with one hand.:sarcastic

I stopped reading that magazine in the 90's. It is a bunch of liberal garbage.
Let's see...you were born in '84 and stopped reading RS in the 90's. How old were you in the 90's? 10? LOL

I agree that Rolling Stone hasn't been significant in decades, but the McCain piece is spot on.

I don't know if I entirely agree with "the McCain piece [being] spot on."... I had read this the other day & while the majority of situations are factual, there is definitely some 'framing' of situations that is subjective or arguable.

I wouldn't mind seeing something similar for Obama... not that it matters.
I can't stand either one of em.

The whole thing is severely depressing.

Oh yeah - & RS mag has been a junk rag for a looooong time.

Just my $.02.
