I searched for something like this, turned up nothing, so if this is like the 100th time this has been posted, please forgive me.

I've never been real into Habanos for whatever reason - only smoked a couple dozen or so in the time I've been smoking. So I never really kept a mental tab of what I favored and what I didn't. But I recently went in on an order with a friend of mine... got three 3 packs: Partagas Serie D No. 4, Cohiba Siglo 2, and H. Upmann Mag. 46. I enjoyed the Partagas and H. Upmann, haven't gotten to the Cohiba yet. Spent about $100 and it seems like it was a great "sampler."

So my question is, what can you guys recommend? I don't want to pay the premium for my Habanos "samplers" over and over just to find out that they aren't any good, and this is definitely the place to ask since I get get a ginormous response compared to ten or fifteen guys at the B&M. If it helps: I usually go for full-bodied sticks to achieve flavor satisfaction, but there are still a handful of medium-bodied smokes out there that I really enjoy. Nicaraguan tobacco is hands down my weakness, but I also like some Honduran cigars.

Thanks ahead of time for any and all input!

Try Bolivar Royal Coronas, Bolivar Belicoso Finos, Bolivar Corona Extra, Punch Punch, Montecristo Petit Edmundo, RyJ Churchill, H,. Upmann Magnum 50 and I'll update the list if I can think of any thing else.

The Monte Cristo & RyJ are full, but I would not consider a Bolivar a full-bodied cigar. I've tried the Belicoso Fino many times & is medium at best (more often with tight draw problems). The Corona Extra is good, but I think I now prefer the RASS.

Cohiba maduro is great, but pricey.

You've got some really nice samplers there, but try RyJ Short or reg Churchill, Montecristo Petite or reg Edmundo or #2. PSD4 is regarded as full, but I find them to be inconsistant lately. As an added note - the Mag 46 just keeps getting better if you are able to hold onto them, but they are a mild-medium. IMHO

ps - Aghhemm - This is strictly hearsay, of course...

There are a couple of sites for you to check out for ratings and opinions.

Ask enough people your going to cover everything there is out there.

Finding a copy of the MRN book would be helpful to you as well.

Ultimatly you are going to have to try things yourself and make your own list.

Happy smoking.

Be sure to branch out into some of the very unique profiles & be prepared to sit on a few cigars for a bit of time to get over the inherent youth sometimes found in Habanos. Give Quai D'orsay & El Rey del Mundo a try. Both are typically mild but very full flavored. They'll be unlike anything you've ever smoked before. Try some Trinidad's for a more medium unique profile and Ramon Allones for more full. Characteristically RA's are pretty tannic when young but there have been occurrences in the near future when they've been smoking well ROTT.

Best of luck & happy smoking. These should treat you right.

Thanks much guys, I truly appreciate the advice. Thanks for the links Moro!

Steve, I figured I'd ask because I know a few people's stick-preferences, and other people I could get an idea. There are usually the handful of sticks that stand out in the majority's mind, so I figured I would start and go from there. Thanks for the links, I'm going to check 'em out.

I generally try to find cigars I enjoy in the size range I typically smoke which is usually limited to Robustos, Coronas, PC stuff. I have limited experience with anything larger. With those sizes you can't go wrong with anything Partagas or Bolivar. I find RyJ to be hit or miss as I've really enjoyed Celestiales Finos but the Ex 4 is very sporadic. Punch is hit or miss with me too, as I've had Punch I enjoy and Punch I didn't enjoy. ERDM makes great cigars if you're in the mood to pick them apart. All in all we can make recommendations, but it's up to you to find what you like....and when it comes down to it that's most of the fun!

If you look around enough you can find guys willing to part with a little sampler pack I'm sure that's filled with cigars you'd enjoy. You'd be better off buying from fellow BOTL's in that format than you would anywhere else. Good luck!

Can't agree more with you Kurt I'd add La Gloria Cubana to the list as well mild bodied but extremely full on flavour.

If you like full bodied sticks and have a size preference:
Robusto - H.Upmann Conniesieur #1, fresh PSD#4 or fresh R. Allones Sel. Suprema
Piramide/Campana - fresh Partagas Serie P#2 or Bolivar Belicoso Fino
Corona/Gorona Gorda - Bolivar Corona Extra or Punch Super Seleccion #2 or El Rey del Mundo Gran Corona

and try a fresh Romeo & Julieta Cazadore
