do you guys think that if someone came up with a website that you could keep your humidor inventoried that supplied a good data base of brands and a place for tasting notes with pictures of the bands etc. Would there be a market for it. We were also talking about designing a hygrometer with a wifi devise that you could keep in your humidor that would chart you temp and humidity on an hourly basis. So what do you guys think?

I've tried several programs and such for inventory but none of them were inclusive enough or easy enough to add new and unlisted cigars. The hygrometer idea is awesome. If the site were robust(o) enough, I'd be all over using it.

Doc,

I kicked around an idea of something like that, but wanted to make it so you could also list your wants as well and what you had to trade or sell. Then put the people in touch with each other that matched for a trade and include trader ratings etc. A kind of cigar match maker with a facebook twist. I don't think we have a good national auction/trade system for the average Joe. If you like the idea run with it, I'm not going to persue it.

It wouldn't be hard to have a robot go out and scan major web sites for new listings and suck them in, or take a Wickipedia approach and have the users make and maintain the accuracy.

Squid has simplified the whole cigar inventory thingie greatly with my vast years of experience. Nowadays I denote a humidor as being in enther of three possible states: "ful" "empty" or "can use a few more sticks". Makes life soooo much easier. <G>

I was looking into doing something like this for the iPhone. Hit me up with a PM if you want to try something like this I'd be willing to give it a go. I'm also working with a buddy of mine creating a humidor which will control RH, temp, and air circulation. Another interesting way to track your cigars would be through RFID chips but I haven't really seen if this is price effective as of yet.
