Looks like snow is hitting Jersey/New York on Friday. That means Saturday is a likely powder day on the ski slopes. I telemark ski, anyone else hitting the slopes this weekend? The best skiing with day trip driving for me is Plattekill in NY.

I do it in either the US or Canada. Here ye can grab a wooden board and slide down some big staircases, though!
I've seen riders at Plattekill in 3feet of fresh snow just tearing it up, really incredible. Boarding isn't feasible for me as the place I ski in Vt does not allow snowboards (Mad River Glen). Kind of hard to believe, but the ban will not change anytime soon. Likely never.
Ilove beeing the first down the slope! Best way to get thick coat of powder! (and spray others often)

If you want a laugh, here's a link to a youtube vid of my 7 year old (she's 8 now) skiing over a snowbank and crashing into the road in front of our ski house (just across the street). I freaked and shut the camera off immediately, but she was fine.

NJ's got "hills". NY has mountains, but the place I'm talking about skiing at is probably more in the "hill" category.
To me skiing is all about sustained pitch. I'd rather have 700 vert of steeps than 2000 feet of tilted cow pasture. Platty's got it where it counts.

looks similar to were i snowboard here is WI. I will be out this weekend as i am almost every other during the winter. Love the park. I skied for 2 years and have been snowboarding for the past 8 and instructing snowboarding for the past 4.
