I have a new Ipod touch 8gb.

how many songs will it hold?
what about a full length movie?
as far as mp3's roughly 1500ish
cd quality roughly 160ish
movies vary in quality but if compressed right anywhere from 1 to 300ish

These are all rough numbers, based on length and quality

Quoted from the apple store:
1,750 songs (or)
10 hours of video

My fav. toy right now is my Ipod touch. I can't leave home without it. My check list goes: Wallet, Ipod, Phone and watch before I can leave the house.

While a lot of people think 8 isn't big enough I think it's plenty big to do what you need to do. I have an 8 gig iPhone and it works perfectly for me. My iTunes library is a TB and I just sync what I want to listen to on my 8.

Well, I've currently got nearly 6,000 songs (590 albums) on my 80gig iPod, along with 1 movie and two TV episodes.

It's only about 12-way full.

Multiply by 10 :headroll:
Lol,,,I quit formulating math equations years ago. I use to have the IPOD ( still do) that is the 1 gig and that is more than enough for me. I might like this 80 gig for movies and shows, though. I don't know more than a 1,000 songs that I would even listen to much less what the max is for this thing.

Well that will leave you an awful lot of room for video then, 80 gigs is more than enough for most people. I could outgrow 8 gigs pretty quick and I think a lot of people could as well with a handfull of movies and a 1000 mp3's.

I've been a DJ for over 15 years, I don't think I KNOW 1000 songs let along know of 1000 songs that I'd want on my iPod.
1000 songs is less than 100 albums, after 15 years as a dj you have probably thrown away more albums than that.:dunno:

and by albums I mean those black vinyl thingys

Just saying....800 songs at 5 MB per songs is 4 GB, so leaves you 5 hours of video(according to apple), so basically 2.5 movies and it's full. As I said before I think most people that use it offen could fill it up.

Wade, you don't know 1000 songs? I doubt that; you're bound to have at least that many--heck, many times more. Shoot, I bet the Rolling Stones have recorded that many songs. LOL

Like I've said, I've got nearly 600 albums on my iPod, and that's basically just my CD collection. I don't digitize my vinyl, but I've probably got another 300 albums worth in them (and constantly growing).

I bet I accumulate about 5 to 10 albums per month. :noemotion

OK, no doubt I got the songs, I think I've somewhere around 1200 CD's, but still there's no way I want even one song from each on my iPod, I just want stuff on there that I really want to hear.

Ok, I've got over 5000 songs and the equals 14 days worth of no repeats. I also have 15 movies, the kid will watch them when we go looking for stogies. I still do not have the 80gb filled up and I also have 200 pictures and 25 audio books. If I own it, it goes on the the Ipod.
