Guess I just don't get the point.

Could be useful in a movie theater. Never tried one though.
Movie theaters, classrooms, restaurants, they're a lot of reasons.

I'm with JDP on this one, if I found out I couldn't use my cell in a restaurant because someone tables away didn't want me on it...there would be hell to pay. Who knows why that person is on the phone, maybe their wife just went into labor, maybe their husband was hurt at work, maybe their daughter got into a car accident. Yeah, it'd piss me off.
This is precisely why you can't buy them in the U.S., but there have been studies done to prove that one can keep living without a phone in their ear. These things are very real and I keep seeing both night and day in every 24 hour period and that proves to me that the world is still turning. Besides, don't forget that you could always just screw with your buds with it.
