What worked for me was not researching the doctors. What I did was research the machines that actually do the work. I found what I felt was the best, newest machine, and found a doc that used that machine.
So, what was the latest greatest machine, and who and where did you get the work done?

Had mine done 5 yrs ago. Working well!!! Out of pocket cost because Ins didn't cover. Ins would cover cataract's not Lasik. Only need reading glasses in low light situations or if reading "fine" type for a long period of time. My eye's before were 7.50+. Great to be able to go swimming, water skiing and not have glasses fog up in winter!!!!!

I wanted to get Lasik in December but my doctor recommended PRK because I had some slight irregularities on my corneas. I went ahead and had the PRK shortly after Christmas. Full recovery (to 20/20) will take about 2 1/2 more months... very irritating. Lasik recovery is a couple of days. If you can do lasik, I'd suggest you do it !

I'm not sure what the latest and greatest machine is, but i figured that the doctor is there to make sure you don't die, and to push the 'go' button. the machine does all the work.

Does it affect your ability to sight in a firearm or see something move in the woods during low light?
I can see deer better than I could when I had glasses. I watched three does yesterday evening and I could still see them for at least 30 minutes after sunset. I can say that I have not been adversely affected by light conditions.

A friend of mine had Lasik, there were some problems at first but I think they got them corrected. Only problem was that it only lasts (or lasted for him) about 10 years. Now he wears glasses.
