Other than bringing in Pete Johnson, what events does your local run that you enjoy? We've done movie night, World of Warcraft night but are looking to do more events to help bolster sales and bring customers into the shop.

Not that there's anything wrong with bringing Pete in, (but we know BOTL is like Tatuaje Nation headquarters) but I was just wondering what your local does that you enjoy and you've seen success at.

Thanks in advance.

Alot of seating, free soda and water but alot of the regs bring it in and stock it. Alot of Sunday nights on the 50 inch all watching games, playing xbox 360 (fifa soccer during the day).

Now that I read again, I see ye want ideas. What about cigar tastings? Pay a fee and get together and smoke the same cigar to refine the pallate. A torcedor is a neat addition as well.

We do play poker every Tuesday night, but it's mostly a semi-private game with Uncle Bob and his bowling team. Not more than 1k changes hands though!

However, we could do a mass e-mailing for a poker night tournament, say $10-20 buy in, all cash being paid out and just do a $5 minimum purchase at the shop. Hmmmm

my B&M is lame they dont do events... every now and then they will have a rep from some big cigar company come in. the last one was about 4 months ago it was a macanudo rep, i didnt go but i heard it was lousy time. I wish they would see the light and start carrying tatuaje. It would give pete a good excuse for a trip to party in Charleston haha. as for ideas for events. I would suggest something with sports, poker, hot chicks and cigars.... those usually go well together

Texas Hold'em every other Monday night seems pretty popular at mine. Through a local website www.greatstogie.com area b&m's do blind tastings with boutique brands. It helps the little guy get real reviews from local clientele and some get their foot in the door with guys they have had a hard time with. They are pretty cool events.....

I like the stripper idea. My b&m did a calendar shoot with all the girls in lingerie. I mailed out an extra calendar to someone. He should be getting it today. LOL! We also already do poker night. I'd like them to have more non-alcoholic drinks at the open bar events. I don't drink so free booze does me no good at all.

Strippers is probably going to get you the furthest. I would check in with your local reps and see what they could provide and do some mass emailings and promote, promote, PROMOTE! Did I say PROMOTE???

Wade, I would have to say to help out the flow throught bobs shop.

Cigars samplings, every month or every two weeks discount a cigar and have a meet up to sample the cigar.
Happy hour would be great, I'd love to have drinks at bob's but cant afford his prices on booze.
Encourage bob to have member program, where members get a discount for a yearly due.
Have a sale once and a while
Get better people working there, get rid of the hippie kids, draws the wrong clients.
Do some radio or tv ads. Sorry to say Bob doesn't advertise at all. Most new people don't even know that there is a cigar lounge in Appleton.
Lastley Spruce up the place a little. Time to update the interior and make it more inviting

oh one more thing. GET MORE CIGAR REPS IN THERE. It will always draw people in. To try new things and ask questions.
Get the people who know into the shop.

In my business I often host "events" with my partners. Many times I will get in touch with a wine distributor, or liquor distributor, or heck a gun rep. Get them out to the shop and have them peddle thier wares. A nice wine tasting is always appreciated. Kind of like a wine school for dummies. Most people are intemidated by wine so some simple instruction is always appreciated. The wine reps will do it for free. Probably could get a cigar rep in there as well. That would bring me into a shop. Free wine seminar!
