I smoked a Padron Executive while watching the parade go past empty bleachers. Felt bad for the kids who had worked so hard to prepare for this, and when they get on the road there is no one in the bleachers. I'm sure they didn't show that on TV though.

Wow this thread got off the topic fast.

Today everyone who watched the tv witnessed history, in one way or another. Like it or not, it happened. I think everyone needs to pull together and give him your support the best way you can. I am not big into politics however I do know that the only way we are going to be able to get through all the things that are happening in the world and in our great country is to be united and get through it together, as one.

If it was not so cold I would have smoke and America.

Its a good day for America...as it pertains to equal rights and how far we have come as a nation...the idea that 60years ago a black man could not vote and today becomes president is impresive and says alot about the people of this great country...so today I will celebrate...tomorrow I will complain, question, gripe and be generally disgusted which is my God given, forefather's fought for and greatest generation died for right!

Inspiring a Nation equates to the trickle up effect. All politicians care about is getting re-elected so inspiring these guys to work together, especially in these times, serve duel purposes. What we don't need, as a nation or a government body, is the same ol partisan negativity we've enjoyed for the last eight years and helped to get us into the mess we're in now. This is a very historical time on many levels. If you don't think so then check with your neighbors or better yet, open that envelope with that 401K statement in it. You know, the election is over. Now is the time for supporting our government and our leaders.

....and that's my 2c

Your dates are a little off.

The Fifteenth Amendment (Amendment XV) to the United States Constitution prohibits each government in the United States to prevent a citizen from voting based on that citizen's race, color or previous condition of servitude (i.e., slavery). It was ratified on February 3, 1870.

The Congress proposed the Fifteenth Amendment on February 26, 1869 and the following states ratified the amendment:

Nevada (March 1, 1869)
West Virginia (March 3, 1869)
Illinois (March 5, 1869)
Louisiana (March 5, 1869)
Michigan (March 5, 1869)
North Carolina (March 5, 1869)
Wisconsin (March 5, 1869)
Maine (March 11, 1869)
Massachusetts (March 12, 1869)
Arkansas (March 15, 1869)
South Carolina (March 15, 1869)
Pennsylvania (March 25, 1869)
New York (April 14, 1869, rescinded on January 5, 1870, rescinded the rescission on March 30, 1870)
Indiana (May 14, 1869)
Connecticut (May 19, 1869)
Florida (June 14, 1869)
New Hampshire (July 1, 1869)
Virginia (October 8, 1869)
Vermont (October 20, 1869)
Alabama (November 16, 1869)
Missouri (January 7, 1870)
Minnesota (January 13, 1870)
Mississippi (January 17, 1870)
Rhode Island (January 18, 1870)
Kansas (January 19, 1870)
Ohio (January 27, 1870, after having rejected it on April 30, 1869)
Georgia (February 2, 1870)
Iowa (February 3, 1870)

Ratification was completed on February 3, 1870. The amendment was subsequently ratified by the following states:

Nebraska (February 17, 1870)
Texas (February 18, 1870)
New Jersey (February 15, 1871, after having rejected it on February 7, 1870)
Delaware (February 12, 1901, after having rejected it on March 18, 1869)
Oregon (February 24, 1959)
California (April 3, 1962, after having rejected it on January 28, 1870)
Maryland (May 7, 1973, after having rejected it on February 26, 1870)
Kentucky (March 18, 1976, after having rejected it on March 12, 1869)
Tennessee (April 2, 1997, after having rejected it on November 16, 1869)

Notice that Utah, Hawaii, and Alaska still have not Ratified the amendment.

The Voters Rights Act signed in 1965 by Lyndon B. Johnson was just an ACT.

I smoked a Diplomatica #2.

I didn't vote for Obama, but hope he is a successful president for all our sake. He has been a boilerplate vote for the Democratic party, which he needed to be to ascend to the level he reached. I hope that now that he has no other height to attain, he will work with a more independent mind.

Time will tell. But I will not hate or disrespect the man, he is our president.

Fitting, seeing how the worst President in the history of the United States just left office. :eyepoke:

C'mon Ron, it's time to let all of that hate go and support your new Commander in Chief.

I've noticed that people who for the last eight years have cheered all the protests against the Bush administration are, now that a new President has been elected, jumping up and down yelling "he deserves your support, he's our President"!
