I decided to skip out of work early yesterday and headed over to my B&M looked around their humidor and decided on this stick after looking at it beautiful, dark, oil wrapper.
I spent some time toasting the foot of the cigar and once it got going it started to canoe a bit. I still have a bad throat so my taste buds may be off a little but right off the bat I could taste some beans and perhaps something floral I couldn't put my finger on. As the stick progressed through the first third I noticed some earthy notes mixed in with the bean flavour, the burn was still uneven but I was hoping it would correct itself. The draw was slightly tight for my liking and so far this smoke was disappointing me guess I expected more from a stick with almost five years of age on it.
As I hit the second third the burn seemed to correct itself and with a some solid grey ash.. the earthiness and beans seemed to have given way to some coffee notes and as I progressed through the taste changed to a strong dark chocolate flavour and I started to notice some spice coming off it. Right as I hit the middle of the second third the draw seemed to get perfect and the volume of smoke increased to my delight.
Along the last third the cigar was burning perfectly and producing great smoke and flavours seemed to evolve into a leathery spice. This cigar seemed to get stronger as it progressed and by the time the last third came around I was glad I choose this as my evening smoke. I was loving the spice and leather mixed in with a bit of coffee and didn't want to put this cigar out.
I nubbed it till the end and strangely enough it became quite mild as it started burning my fingers. I'm very happy to say that this was am extremely smooth and enjoyable smoke which all brothers must try at least once.
