my sons are 24 now. I am 46. Back about 8 years ago, they needed a ride to a sweet 16 party. So i assume that i am dropping them off at somebodies house. next thing i know, i am at a golf course clubhouse. Hundreds of people. I couldnt believe my eyes. this thing was like a wedding. following year, wifre and I get invited to another. same deal, you would have thought it was a fancy wedding reception. my next one was my brothers kid. same deal, i was in shock.

seems that on Long Island, this is a pretty regular thing. The amount of $ spent is insane.

I have a feeling that with todays times, these kids of today are going to become unspoiled real fast. back to a nice small party at home.

We've had birthday parties for our kids when they turned 16, and will continue to do the same for the last two. Family at home, dinner, cake, gifts.

Down here in Mexico we have sweet 15, not 16. I had one hell of a time the theme was "Classic Rock".
I told everyone (the one's that i invited) to come dressed as they wanted, i wanted them to be comfterable and i had band over called "Jurassic Band" Hahahahaha, a whole bunch of old farts singing and playing the drums and guitar. It was awesome!

And the best yet super sweet 16 was the girl who got a bitchin brand new lexus, but was pissed becuse it was not the color she wanted. She started yelling and screaming at her mom for the mistake. Don't worry guys, she'll be fine. Dad came to the rescue and said don't worry we can just take it back and get another one. Now wear does our youth learn this whole "sence of entitlement"? I bet this girl was happy with her 4th place throphys too.

Car for a 16th B-day. WHEN my daughter is old enough to drive I may help her get one but buy her a $50,0000 car, NO CHANCE. My first car was a POS 87 Pontiac Sunbird I paid $450.00 for and replaced the motor myself in my dad's shop when it went and then it blew again.
