I'm a little proud to say that I have outgrown my current 100 count humidor, and now need to purchase a second humidor. I am currently renting humidor space from my neighbor . . . nothing like walking by and seeing him organizing his tools with one of my cigars in his mouth. "Rent" he says . . .

My buddy PepinAddiction, among other people told me to go with a coolidor . . . but being as I have the perfect spot, (not to mention it would look good in my room) wanted to go with a 150 count Glass top humidor.

Wanted to know everyone's thoughts on Humidors with glass . . . I have heard conflicting things about them. Some people say their fine, but most others have said they're a pain in the ass to keep at proper humidity. Any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated, thanks. :pimp2:

I have a Monticristo Afrique (sp?) glass top himidor that I have used and loved for over a year with no problems. I love being able to look in at the cigars and the hygrometer without opening it. It is front and center on my coffee table.

Same here, biggest thing is keeping it out of sunlight(as with all humidors).

I don't care for glass on humidors. THe problem can be the seal, which may cause humidity problems. With a good bead of silicone sealnat, which you can pick up from an aquarium store around the glass, you probably won't have too much problems

My favorite humi. has a glass top & I love it. I also have two smaller ones without glass. I've heard negative things about the glass tops as well, but I've never had any issues. To echo rabbgp it's nice to see you gage through the glass. It's also real nice to see some of your choice sticks on the top shelf as well.

There's good glass top humidors, there's bad glass top humidors and I don't mean that one brand or model is better or worse, but sometimes you get a good one, sometimes you don't. Same can be said for humidors with a wood top. But as Craig Mac mentioned above, above all, just keep either one out of the sun or direct heat and you should be fine with whichever you choose.

ditto. i have with and without. both are fine. depends on the quality of the humi. you can have bad seals on either type. get what you like.

I have a glass top humi and love it. Just be sure to buy a good one and be careful with the sun, as everyone's said. About it being 150ct. though...ye'll run out of space again very soon. :smokingbo

I started with a 150ct desktop. Filled it up. Bought a 16 bottle wine fridge. And now that one is almost full. Buy something BIG! The slope is steeper than you think. (in my case it's more like a cliff). I've only been doing cigars for 3months.

So on the Newbie Box Pass IV it was not a beetle that made the hole... :smokingbo
the pass hasn't made it to me yet. Thank you though. You keep getting lippy, and I might have to clear some space in my humi...ON YOUR HEAD!!! :pitchfork

Oh SNAP!!!

Anyway, About the glass humi. Check out the humi pics on my page and you will see that the is a lot of glass on my humidor.

I love that I can see my smokes at all times. It would be hard to upgrade to something that I couldn't see into now.

The down side is that you can't keep it around sun light. But, I came up with a remedy if you do get a little sunlight near the glass.

I have taken the paper thin sp.cedar dividers that come in certain* cigar boxes and cut them so they fit perfectly in the humidor window to keep away the sunlight. The cedar strips are very easy to work with, so anybody can do it make it look nice. I will post pics later.

I would say get it. If you like it, don't let the glass scare you off.
