I haven't seen any posts about this cigar yet, so I thought I would share a little about it with my friends.

My son-in-law gave me one a week ago today (42 x 5 Corona), I let it sit in my humidor a week and decided to try it tonight.

I smoke very few maduro's, I like a very strong and hearty cigar, and one of my favorites is the Camacho Triple Maduro, so let me tell you I'm extremely pleased with this cigar.

Easy light and draw, a very nice hearty kick from the start, burned a little uneven (I may not have given it a good initial light) but it evened itself out quickly. It's a slow burner but maintains it strength and flavor throughout.

Here's a little more info about it from the web....

"Even more limited than its brothers in the Summer and Autumn Collections, the Rocky Patel Winter Collection Corona is a strong cigar. A Connecticut broadleaf maduro wrapper finishes off this Nicaraguan made cigar. A full bodied and strong cigar, the flavor profile is similar to a Camacho Triple Maduro. The corona is 5 inches long and 42 ring gauge, making up a third of the Rocky Patel Winter Collection. Rocky is keeping most of the blend details under wraps about this cigar. The Rocky Patel Winter Collection Robusto will not be around long."

I agree with the assessment on the flavor profile 100%. If it's going to be as limited as it's written, I strongly recommmend getting your hands on some of these cigars, I surely plan too!

I have tried that and the autumn, but I actually like the summer the best. It is not the greatest smoke in the world, but my local shop offers them to me cheap (I think I am the only one buying them:nodlaugh:)...so they tend to be a quick go to smoke / daily smoke.

I smoked many R.P. including the Winter Collection. I was given a box of the Spring collection. But I would have to admit most R.P. are just.....eh. just my .02

I have noticed not alot of talk on here about them. Was at the hangout yesterday and 2 boxes sold in 3 hrs between the regulars. All agreed that(toro and robo) might be one of the best values out there right now. I bought 4 because everyone was sticking there hand in the boxes left and right. Four of the daily brothers were all smoking and raving about how good it was. And this from guys that wouldn't smoke RP if they were gifted them. (LFD, TAT, PEPIN GUYS). They just couldn't believe how good they were. Im going to light 1 up 2 night to see what the fuss was about.

I agree...it is a good smoke for the price, but I also just picked up a box of Tat P's and they are only $3 a stick...IMO those have better flavor and are a couple bucks cheaper a stick. But I guess it comes down to everyone having their own taste.

I was pleasantly surprised how wonderfully the full bodied cigar tasted. I think mine were about $6 per stick too. I did have an uneven burn, but I was smoking it the car. It doesn't pack the punch of the decades, but still an enjoyable cigar.

I'm also not a fan. I used to smoke some of his stuff, the '90 & '92, but not anymore. I tried the decade. It was ok. But I stay away from the Rockies.

I love a lot of Rocky Patels, and at least like all the ones I've tried so far. I REALLY want to try the Winter, especially after these great reviews!

My local has some, but they're like $8 which is kinda painful for me. Hopefully they'll go on special somewhere and I can grab a 5er and try them out.

I really like the Winter Collection. I have only had the Summer 2009 and Winter 2009 from RP so I really cannot comaper them to other RP cigars. The Winter was a nice full bodied smoke to me.

Everyone that doesn't like the RP Winter '09 is probably from NJ because it has a PA maduro wrapper and it's just another thing they are jealous we have, or in the case of taxes don't have.

I really like the smoke, bought the last 4 that CI had about a month ago. This is gonna be released again as the Patel Brothers Blend, fyi.
