I either suck at calibrating with the salt test or its off by 10-15% or my box stopped holding humidity. For a while when I'd open my humi it would read 68-70% over the past week its been reading less than 60% so I decided to test the hygro maybe the consistency is off on the salt but it got to like 65% after about 8 hrs. Not sure where to go from here. Its a digital thermo/hygro from a pet shop an it cost about 20 bucks the same as the rest and I'm using the crystals for humidification. Everything has been good until recently not sure which out of the 3 could be the culprit.

Try to re-season your box. Or maybe you need more crystals in your humi.

Try more crystals. If it's seasond well that should fix the problem. But if it's at 65 that's fine.

Buy a calibration kit from Ron. It was probably me but I could never get the salt test to work.

I moved every thing to one box so there's enough crystals for 100 in a 50. It read 65 after the salt test.

They can, depends on the hygro and how worn it is.

I have three of them. One is off by 3%. The other two are xikar's. When you salt test them you can calibrate them off it. They have them at Famous. And as with all their products it has the xikar warranty.
But yes they can be "off". Did you leave it in the zip lock bag with the salt for at least four hours?

It looks like it's your gage. Try throwing in a water pillow with the beads to see if it brings it up for you. If you need a pillow I think that I have an extra.
