[ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timothy_McVeigh"]Really? Okay so, he's Catholic.[/ame]

Back on point, I don't object to the use of the term enemy combatant per se, but rather the way it has been applied to anyone, including citizens of the United States of America, in order to detain, question, and imprison people without due process of law.

Ok, I think I can agree with not calling them enemy combatants.

This would have been THE perfect scanario....

We should have taken all of the detainees that were linked in any way to 9/11, placed them all in a New York courtroom, and then said "Sorry, we have made a few clerical mistakes. You are all free to go."

....and then let them all walk out he front door onto the streets of New York.

Payback's a bitch

I agree. I'm all for punishing the bad guys, but anyone accused of a crime should have the chance to defend their innocence.

From my eyes and standpoint it doesn't matter, race, religion, creed, or nationality if they are building bombs they gots to go. If their prints are all over a bomb or bomb components then just smoke that dude right then and there when you find out. They obviously were intending to take others out. Bombers are the biggest cowards but damn is it a doozie of a tactic.

Citizens of the United States have gone over there and received training to kill Americans. Sorry, screw em.

Thousands of Islamic Radicals running around, organizing and effectively targeting and killing us gives us the right and obligation to call them Islamic terrorists...simply because there are occasional crack pots who do the same does not mean there is not a prenicious and unique danger to organized radical, murderous Islam (peace loving Muslims excepted, obviously).

Equating Mc Viegh with a billion strong, organized religion which is causing havoc throughout the world is tortured logic, at best....

I have no problem calling an individual a terrorist when they commit acts of terrorism. To lump in more than one billion people with them because of the religion they practice or where they were born is preposterous and borders on racism.

Now, by all means, let's wipe those that attack us off the face of the Earth, but let's do it in a way that is moral, and meets with our values as a nation. We must uphold the constitution when we do it. Otherwise, we have become terrorists ourselves.

Where did I equate McVeigh with Islam? I'm pretty sure my comment was in direct rebuttal to someone saying that Lutherans didn't do this kind of stuff. Now, I assumed that by Lutheran, that person meant christian in general. McVeigh was a catholic. Rudolph belonged to the christian identity movement.
A few posts later, someone sarcastically stated they didn't know those guys were Lutheran. So, just to satisfy them, I went out and found a link to a book that links the German Protestant Church (Lutherans) to the Third Reich. I think I fairly effectively made my point that Lutherans, and good christian folk, do indeed "blow $hit up."
