Temp problem

I have my desktop humidor, and the humidity is fine. Running around 64-65%. The problem is the temp. I can't get the temp to lower below 75. It just hangs around 74-75.

I tried moving it, and didn't help much. Besides getting a climate controlled box, any suggestions? The fan in the room is on as fast as it goes and keeps it pretty cool.

Anything else that could help me bring the temp down that are not extremely costly?

Thanks a bunch

That is a tough one. I had the same issue and had to make sure that I was at the right distance from my AC vent in my house during the summer. A lot of trail and error. I finally just took over my wife's wine fridge! Keep trying areas in the room or even other rooms. The lower to the ground the better.

No wine fridge for me to use. :(

I will try moving it lower to the ground but it is only 3.5 feet off the ground. Not close to any windows, and no electronic devices around it either.

When I wake up in the mornings the temp will be around 70-73, but as the day progresses it makes it up to 75. It bounces around basically from 70-75 all day.

Yeah...that can be scary getting up into those higher temps. Unfortunately you live in a climate that it is hard to control it. I am not sure of any products that will cool it down in the desktop humi. Keep your eye open for a small wine fridge. There are a couple great posts on here concerning where to get a good fridge at a great price. Just use the search engine at the top of the page. When you get a moment...stop by the intro page and tell us a little about yourself! Great group of people here!

How far are you from Flower Mound, Tx. I could get you a vinotemp for less than $30.
Good 8 hours away.

Right now I am sitting at 72. It keeps messing with me. I would like under 70, constantly.

Damn! Don't pass that up!!! Cheaper than you wasting your time moving that box around:)
If they shipped it, I would be down. (I would pay for that if it isn't an arm)

If you don't want to take the vinotemp plunge your options are limited. Temp is not a problem if you freeze your cigars before you put them in, but that's a lot of work. You can also just not keep anything in there long term and use it for regular smokes and just risk bettles. If you want a cheap long term solution try a tuppidor inside your AC vent or under your AC air handler.

I wouldn't mind a temp controlled unit, but I wouldn't need anything big or costly. If anything just something to fit my humidor inside to keep it cool, and that's it.

Or try a reusable ice pack in the humi. Wrap it in paper towel. Take all the cigars off the humi's tray if there is on. Put the ice pack in your humi till it thaws then repeat process. I'd drop the cash and buy the Wine cooler.

I felt the same way. I'm moving to Texas this summer and splurged on a 12 bottle vinotemp. I got it for an amazing deal, in fact I paid more for shipping then I did for the whole unit. To my door I believe the unit cost me $60, then 1 pounds of beads from heartfelt. I also bought a couple of oust fans from amazon. I then bought some custom woodwork for MTmouse for around $90. I've attached all the pics I have of it for size and what fits in it. The bowls inside are for seasoning, as I just got my cedar shelf and 2 drawers in today.

Could I potentially get one of those cheaper 6 bottle ones?

And remove at tray and slide my humidor inside? Do the trays actually remove?

I just don't think I will have that many cigars, to make use of such a big unit. Plus I will be in a college dorm room, so space wise is a must.

Can it be some cheap brand besides vinotemp? The only quality I want from it, would be to make it under 70. The humidity beads, and the others would just stay in the humidor.

Ebay=~$45.00 with shipping

Take that rack out, and my humidor would slide in perfectly.

OR, keep the humidor out and put some cedar trays in! :smokingbo

Good idea! So right now I am sitting at 71-72 degrees. Towards the cooler part of my days, temp drops. During the mid afternoon though it hangs 74-75.

:applause:
Never thought of that, but I just spent 80 something bucks on this humidor. :crytears:

I'm sure I could sell it, but not for what I paid.

Maybe you can trade it for some sticks, or maybe you can see if someone needs a humidor and they can buy you the two shelves you need for your new vinotemp. That would be a good trade.

Doesn't sound like a bad idea.

Would two shelves be close to the 100 ct I have now?

Pictures of what I have now:

Before cigars, just when I got it a couple weeks ago.
