Hey guys,

Looked through the search function. Couldn't find out anything that answered this question. Does it matter if it's a mechanical or digital temp control in a wineadore?

I've got the opportunity to pick one up locally. The temp range is up to 60F as a maximum high, and goes down to about 45F as a low. It's a thermo-electric unit. Just don't want to waste $150 on something that won't be suitable.

Thanks guys.
chris.

It's a GE Profile. Probably about $350 new here. Getting it lightly used for $150. Our prices up in Canada are a bit different than those deals you US boys get. haha.

I figured the Thermo-elec was good. Just wasn't sure about the temp range, if it was high enough.

what some people have done is get an electronic temp. controller. set that to what you want the interior to be. it'll kick on the wineadore until it reaches that temp then it'll shut it down. i believe electric sheep is a big advocate of these. i plan on picking one up before the summer. you can pick them up for about 80 bucks.

but as long as its thermoelectric and works, you should be okay. if you don't want to buy anything else, just set it at the maximum temp. you might need more humidification devices if its a colder temp tho.

how many bottles does it hold? 1 lb will likely be a little light if its a 28 bottle model. the more the better with the beads!

I use an external temp controller that lets me store at 68*-70*. there are severla type available on ebay. Mine works fine, but it is probably no nessesary. I figure the fridge runs less often this way.

It would be better, to have another pound in there. it will help it recover faster. When you open the door, you will swap a lot of out side air, for nice well humidifed humi air. More beads means you are back to normal faster.

That totally makes sense. Next I'll have to look into some cedar drawers and shelves from MtMouse.
I have a 28 bottle Avati with a Cigar Oasis & 1 pound of Heartfelt 65 beads split in two bags. I also have the external temp regulator. I love it. Its the best humi. I have a couple of shelves & I just got my drawer in last week. I'm extremely happy with it.
Just remember if you set it up & you don't have enough of a stash to fill it use empty boxes. If you need some let me know. I have had to take a few out of my wineadore as I started to fill it up.

thanks bro. I'll let you know via PM if I do. I have 8 boxes inbound right now. Should have them all in hand by this time next week, provided the taxman doesn't catch any of them like he did with Aaron.

Definitely appreciate the help and the offer guys. Love this place.

Just picked up the Wineadore. Looks like she's a compressor model, actually, not a thermo-elec. No biggie. I'll be loading it up with a few more heartfelt beads than planned, and keeping an eye on the RH.

Thanks for the help brothers. I'll take some pics when I get a chance.
