Different smokes need different humidity?

I`ll start by giving some details. I have a cigar jar with about 10 smokes in it currently. I`m using 2 boveda 72% packs for humidification (no hygrometer). I live in colorado where it is dry as hell, so being a noob when I upgraded from the puck and distilled water method I figured 72% would be a good idea. Yesterday I lit up a Nub cameroon and the wrapper started cracking and peeling from the get go. I had done some research here and figured I had over humidified the cigar. Today I grab a Black Pearl after dinner expecting the same result. Not even close, the Black Pearl burns even all the way to the end. The draw was a bit tight, but no cracking or peeling at all. So do I write it off as a bad Nub or question the humidification. Sorry for the long winded question!

Thanks, Jeff

many cigar smokers prefer to smoke and store different brands and sizes of cigar at different humidity levels. seems thinner ring gauge cigars will tighten up at higher humidity levels. larger ring gauge can tolerate higher humidity levels. but this can change by manufacturer, so you never really know for sure.

I have had more Nub exploders than non-exploders. I only smoked them at the B&M, out of the box. I think they tend to blow more than most smokes (in my experience).

I must say that most of my smokes burn great at 65%.

i have 70 % beads in all of my humis and it keeps it at a pretty steady 68% which is perfect for me. Im glad its not exactly at 70 i feel that 70 is more for long storage and 65 or so it better for smoking so a happy medium it good for me because i have many smokes that have been stored for a while and i still want to smoke them right out of the humi and not have to dry box or put them in a lower humidity level humi. sounds like there just a little high but like people have said it has more to do with the cigar you win some and lose some

I have had the wrapper crack when the humidity is too low where I'm smoking. You say it's dry as hell where you are. I live in a desert area of Ca. (Valencia) and when the humidity drops very low out side (35% or less) I will have problem with the cigars wrapper cracking.
Not saying that is your problem but My NC like higher humidity (68% to 70%) and my Cubans like lower humidity (62% to 65%) so 72% humidity doesn't seem that high. Usually if a cigar is over humidified they will feel spongy when you give the cigar a light sgueeze. I also suggest getting a hydrometer since cigars aren't cheap.
Good luck.
