Yep. A cutter is also allowed, as long as it is one of the closed loop design (Palio or Xikar guillotine), or a scissors type that isn't sharp tipped. Lighters are also allowed as long as they aren't of the "torch" type, soft flame lighters are OK.

I was worried when I flew that they would think the otterbox housed a bomb because in the movies they are always in cases like that. They put it through x-ray and had no concerns with it what so ever.

Not wanting to be 'randomly selected' for screening eh? Smart move WW. :smokingco I've never had issues traveling into the states with stogies on board.

And we're not allowed to transport any type of lighter from here to the US or back to Canada, as a carry on. You guys can do it on domestic flights, but not international. Just a heads up for anyone with a soft flame lighter.

lame.. what can you do with a torch that you cannot with a lighter? (besides properly toast a cigar, heh)

Congress pushed a bill through prohibiting torch lighters, with the line of thinking that if Reid had had a torch lighter he may have been able to get the fuze lit on his shoe bomb.

Torch lighters can be carried in a Tranzpack (several brands now) in Checked Luggage, Domestic Flights only. I fly every week, with checked luggage every other works every time. They placed the inspection notice under the Tranzpack during one TSA inspection.
I would recommend you carry on your cigars.

The last time I left my torch and matches in my suitcase to be checked. When I got to the hotel, they were gone. A note was left that they weren't allowed. Good thing it was a cheap Ronson. I carried my cigars on the plane with me though. No problem.

Yes it is, I recently learned the hard way that if you check a travel humidor i.e. the Xikar the altitude or lack of cabin pressure creates a huge vacuum and it has to be opened with a screwdriver if you can get that to work. It took me a day and a half to pry it open and it sounded like opening a can of beer when I did. The cigars were fine, i just hated waiting. I asked coming back if I could carry it on and it was fine. Hope this helps!
