funny you should start this thread, a friend recommended it so I started it on Sunday. I didn't quit or pause the tape. I hammered out the 1st day, chest and back + abs. I was SORE AS HELL for the next 4 days. Theres no questioning the extremity of the workout, but they've taken it too far. What they're doing is ruining your muscles so bad it takes thousands of calories and days to repair them, and subsequently you lose weight. This is for people who want to lose weight not for people who want to get more jacked!

I'll use the techniques and motions, but I wont do another full workout like that again.

Ask any real lifter, you don't go out to the gym to decimate your muscles. You do your damage and get out, 45 min. tops
That is correct. Anything more than a hour & you're doing way to much damage. I lift for one hour then do about three miles on an arch trainer. You should also not lift every day. Take a day off in between or just do cardio on those days. Also work different mussels. That way you give your body a chance to repair.

I know people who have done P90x, with great results but hardcore is right. you have to give your body time to repair its self. If your not used to working out everyday or almost everyday, it will kick your butt. the thing about P90x is that it changes up everything that way you dont just plateau. My friend watched P90x and took notes. then incorporated some of his own ideas, P90x techniques and some crossfit methods....and is now jacked

You guys are right... I think Im gonna do it in moderation... I use my curling bar and dumbells quite frequently during the week, so I guess I could throw in a P90x workout maybe 2-3 times a week, mixing them up and stick to my diet... i stopped the beer (i could down a 12 in one sitting...I know its sick) and cut out the energy drinks... I drink a hoe lot of water and try to maintain... With my schedule it is impossible to commit to a 6-7 day workout program.

Also try having a protein shake in the morning for breakfast. I have one every day. Tell fill you up with good stuff not crap. If you want an energy drink try 5 hour energy. Also eat less more times. Cut down on the size of your meals but eat about every three hours. Three main meals & healthy snacks. I do fruit, nuts, or Cliff Bars.

Im about 230ish, but my arms and legs are in decent shape, its the gut and love handles...I got some Whey Protien, so I will be starting tomorrow with the shakes... Its hard at work for me to eat regularly so most of the time I dont eat! Which is bad as well.

So let's see what happens.

Still trying to figure out WTF P90x is . . . if you had any links they didn't come through here.
Here you go, I too have seen it on TV a lot of mornings when I am up with the kids. I am sure if you stick with it you will get ribbed. I just don't think it is for me. I just want to get in shape.

A lot of the guys who are shown on the comercials were in "good" shape to start with.

I think he meant 218...My wife weighs 118... Ive seen pics of Joe... he is not 118!
Those pics were last summer & I sure wasn't anywhere near 118 or 218 then. Ask Andrew he's met me. I'm quite a bit different than my pictures. I think I may have even lost some hair too now that I think about it. :rolling:

IMO, most of these packaged programs are not worth the money and can even be dangerous. They are generically designed and set your expectations way too high.

"All you have to do is send us 4 easy payments of $39.95 and after 16 weeks our program will have your body ripped and looking like a Spartan warrior!"

Yea right ... maybe if you are already in decent shape to start.

Eat right = more fruits / vegetables / whole grains / lean meat ... less sugar / fat / refined and processed foods.

Do moderate exercise = 30 mins x 4-5 days per week. In that 30 minutes you should break into a good sweat. If you have a heart monitor, shoot for a rate that is 50-85% of your max rate (220 - your age) .

First and foremost though - see your doctor and discuss your goals with him before you start.

There seem to be a couple of missconceptions about this program here. One is that this progeam will get you, and i quote, "jacked.". This is not the case. If you want to get jacked eat 4000 calories a day and lift heavy weights.

Another missconception is that this is just a weight loss program. It is not. It is designed for those who are in pretty good shape but want to take their physique to the next level. Im talking elite athlete, army special forces, martial arts master type level. This is not about size, it is not designed to blow you up or shrink you down. It is about getting inthe best shape of your life including your cardiovascular system, flexibility, endurance and strength. If you just want to get "jacked" then go lift heavy and stuff your face.

When I think "Jacked" Im talking well defined in every muscle group. Abs delts tris bis shoulders. Not meat head. So I still think you can get jacked on P90.
