So about 10 yachts ago Palmer Johnson built a boat and the entire interior was lacewood. Now I'm a huge fan of this wood, have built a desktop out of it and several other things as well.

We have a lot of this wood left, it's been sitting for a couple years and usually we donate leftover stuff to the local high school. So today I asked my Foreman if I could buy some of the leftover lacewood, he said no, but if I brought in a case of beer and case of soda for the guys, I could take what I wanted...so I did

I know it's really hard to see the grain in photos, but trust me, this will make an outstanding computer desk for me! 34 boardfeet of lacewood for two cases of drinks, this is in my best estimation, between $350 and $400 of wood!

That does have a beautiful grain to it....what I really want to know is who did the "Packer's" theme paint job on your bike?

Now that's a beautiful job!

My Dad is a retired woodshop teacher who builds furniture and has a complete professional cabinet shop. I showed him this picture and he told me that it's very hard to find this wood in large enough format and quantity to make something big....and the price goes up every year...so GREAT score! Can't wait to see the finished product. It should be awesome!

Nice, is that 5/4 x 6? I totally ruined a cabinet I built some years ago out of lacewood. It's like a friggin sponge, I used teak oil and I lost all of the character in the grain. I know, always use scraps as test pieces. Can't wait to see the final product.
