Acceptable Humidity ?

Hey there!

I'm having trouble getting my 150 ct. humidor up to 70%.

It stays at a constant 66 degrees. Is this acceptable, and if so, are there any drawback to being 3-4 degrees off?

I've got two Xikar gel jars in there, and yesterday, I purchased a Xikar digital hyrgometer.

I'd say the humi is about 85% full.

I purchased a Xikar digital hyrgometer.

Be sure that you calibrate your hygrometer. That 66% reading might really be anywhere from 61% to 71%, but you won't know until you calibrate it.

Pick up a Boveda calibration pack if you can, or if you have a hygrometer where you know the variance for certain, use that one to test your new Xikar. Or, do a search for "Salt Test" and use household table salt, a bottle cap and a ziplock to check the reading.

(Oh, I vote for the 65% RH and for leaving the cello on the sticks to help protect them)
