Hello brothers and sisters(?).

I'm new to this forum, of course, but I'm also pretty new to cigars. Unlike beer, which I know intimately, and am able to talk intelligently about what kinds I like and the contribution of various ingredients to the flavor profile, I'm still trying to get up to speed with cigars.

So far, it seems like I most enjoy the first third of a medium/full strength stick. Some of my favorites so far include La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero, Cusano 18 Paired Maduro Robusto, H. Upmann Vintage Cameroon Robusto, Romeo y Julieta Habana Reserve Robusto, Illusione 88, and Don Pepin Black Robusto.

I've got a good store "locally" (an hour away), leafandale.com, so if you've got any suggestions, I'm all ears.

I smoked a Tatuaje Regios Robusto and didn't really like it: it burned unevenly, had too light a draw, and had a flavor I'd describe as dry and spicy--I like a sweeter smoke.

Welcome! The only cigar I haven't tried in your listing is the Cusano, but the others are all great smokes. With your beer background, pretty soon you'll be able to know what leaf will pair with a particular beer. I'm a little behind on the beer category. We have a 6% ABV max here in MS, so the selections are slim.

Thanks, everybody. You sure do make a brother feel welcome.

Welcome! Beer and cigars go great together, nothing better than a cigar with a homebrew or micro brew.
Definitely. My intro to cigars was an annual event in Knoxville called the Brewer's Jam (knoxvillebrewersjam.com)--twenty or thirty brewers with 3-4 taps each and a stage with live local music. Leaf and Ale was there, so I said "what the heck". After 3-4 years, I got hooked.

I've gotta have something to drink when I smoke, and, although beer is my weapon of choice, a single malt scotch or even a good red wine will do in a pinch.
