Well, we went.

It started out as a wet and rainy day, ok it was raining it's @ss off for a while. then once the rain clouds broke it was hotter than Hell.

We got the VIP tix which meant we got an extra 2 hours of tastting...let me rephrase that...Drinking before they let the Gen Admin tickets in. VIP tix were key, we got in 2 hours before the rest of the people which meant lines were short and fast.

All in all it was a fun experience and yes I would do it again.

FYI, got a hotel room at he the national harbor and stayed the night. Better safe than sorry.

I personally think it was worth the extra money. It's not so much about the extra time you get to taste/drink, but the shorter lines and not having to deal with as many people.

We only stayed in the festival area for four out of the six hours it was open. After about 3:00 we got tired of the crowd.

Check and see if they have discount group tickets available and buy early.

VIP tickets here were originally $40 a few months ago for a single ticket, You could also buy a group of four tickets for $140 ($35 each).

A week or 2 before the actual festival, single VIP tickets went up to $50 and no groups tickets were available. 2-3 days before the festival No VIP tickets were available.

I just looked for the Aug 15th date and you can get group tickets for $140. So, if you can get 3 other friends to go it's only a $5 difference.

If I recall correctly the non-VIP tickets went up in price a few weeks before the festival. I think they may have gone up to $40 here.
