"What course is that pic at?"

Tat, I could be wrong but aren't only certain ones open to "public" play?

that pic was at Legacy.

we played southern pines (don't recommend it), Legacy (whcih i recommedn) and The Pit, which is sorta gimmicky, but has a nice layout. we stayed in the condos at The Pit whcih are first rate. i wouldn't stay anywhere else after staying in them. we got a replay price of $29 with cart good anytime after 4pm. we went out around 5 after it started to cool down and had the whole course to ourselves. it was great!

i've played just about every course in the pinehurst area, with the exception of the pinehurst courses themselves...thery'e high dollar

lemme know if youwant some suggested courses to play.

i"m pretty sure that in the pinehsurt area ALL the courses are open to play. obviously you need tee times at any and all of them, and some are more expensive than others, but they're all available.

that's the great thing about golf...can you go play football on the field the pros play on? Can you play baseball ont he field the pros play on? what about basketball?? Can you play on the same court they do?

But golf. golf is about the only major professional sport where you can play the same course the pros play.

"Have you ever played Pine Needles in Pinehurst?"

I have 3 sets of clubs and have never been on a golf course....

Every spring I tell myself I'm gonna take up the game, and it ain't happened yet!

No. haven't played Pine Needles or Mid Pines. both are donald ross courses and they're a little more expensive than the others. i know they've held numerous amateur and lpga events at them. i've always wanted to ply them though. Southern Pines, whcih we played this time, is a donald ross course. it was pretty tough. typical tough greens from donald ross. but it was a dog track...pretty beat up and not cared for all that well.

Talamore is a favorite of mine. FoxFire is another good one. Tot Hill Farm, which isn't necessarily in Pinehurst, is a nice track too. everyhole there would be a signature hole at another course.
