There is no mistaking a Davidoff. The elegant white label and gold lettering speak to elegant and ultimate quality.
Make that a silver box with red foil lettering.
Expanding beyond its well-known borders, the newest Davidoff is the Aromatic Mini Cigarillo, an all-tobacco, machine-made cigar full of flavor. But in addition to the short-filler center, a Java binder and Sumatra natural wrapper, the blend is accentuated with a distinct, sweet aroma thats apparent as soon as the cellophane wrapping is removed.
These cigarillos measure three inches in length and 23 ring gauge and are made in Belgium, with a light flavor. Davidoff notes that Hints of berries and honey round out the discreet vanilla and liquorice aroma.
The cigarillos themselves are unbanded and the box, even in silver with red stamping, is quite understated in the Davidoff tradition. Its the first time that Davidoff has left its trademark white packing with gold lettering, but also their first aromatic cigar series. A box of 20 retails for $16.90, not including local sales and tobacco taxes.
Although long known for its handmade, premium cigars, Davidoff has long offered two different series of machine-made cigars, made in Denmark and the Netherlands. Both of those are also 100% tobacco blends, but are not flavored. The three Danish styles are about the same size as the Aromatic Mini Cigarillos, but the Netherlands-made Demi-Tasse and Long Panatelas are longer at 4 and 5 1/2 inches, but about the same diameter at 22 ring. Both lines also feature Sumatra wrappers over Java binders, with short-filler tobaccos from Brazil and Indonesia in the center.
The Davidoff announcement of this new line says it marks the beginning of a new era. Are there more flavored Davidoffs to come?
