Well, some pics would be a big help. It's hard to tell you much from your description here. There can be some slight variation in size within the box, usually not but it's not unheard of. And the caps will have some variation in them as well. Again, it's hard to say without seeing them, and even then it can only be an educated guess.

It's hard to go by bands alone as the quality control in Cuba isn't that great, although it's getting better. As far as the box code is concerned, what year are they supposed to be from?

Did the person you bought them from offer up the provenance of the box? Is this a guy that you trust? Are they supposed to be from 1998? I personally don't buy very often like this for just this reason. Create a relationship with a vendor that you trust. That's the best way to make sure you are getting the real deal.

How much have you dealt w full boxes. Your nose should tell you when you open it up. I dont have a ton, but the few boxes a buddy let me smell, I am starting to be able to tell with every box he orders.:glassesgr Also once again limited but the pics look good and the bunching looks right on as well. What do they smell like to you. Light sweet tabacco or heavy leathery smell. Colors looks dark but consistent so looks good to me there. Far as my limited exp goes. Also place that Habanos warranty paper in the palm of the hand. It should curl with in a few seconds.

Judging from your pics, they look pretty good. Box, seal, and divider are all consistent with the stamped box date. Minor variations in length and cap application are acceptable. Cigars should have a noticeable box press if it is indeed ten years old.

Pick up a cigar and feel its weight in the palm of your hand. Cuban Coronas are typically lighter than non-Cuban coronas. Smell the foot of the cigar, it should have a faint stinky/sweet quality to it. This smell is stronger in younger cigars.

Ask yourself this, why would anyone go through the trouble of counterfeiting a box of Punch Coronas? This is not an expensive, well-known cigar. Most counterfeiters go for the Cohibas, Montecristos and Romeo y Julietas, usually the bigger, more expensive sizes.

Would I say these are real? Without seeing them in person I can't be 100% positive but it looks likely. Only one way to find out - "trial by fire."

Sounds good to me. They're very light, and I noticed that before I read the post. I tried the palm trick and viola...it started to roll almost immediately.

The scent is very subdued too...age I guess?

I think I'm gonna go with REAL unless I hear some strong reasons otherwise.

Thanks for the input guys!

Thy look ok but you really have to put a little fire to one and see for your self. If you're not that experienced with havanas, just see if you like them as you smoke them...don't get too hung up on authenticity and enjoy the smoke.

The code on the bottom is NO (10) SU (98) Made at the Sancti Spiritus province and the SS code will sometimes be followed by the letters ll for Sancti Spiritus factory No. 2.

The stamp doesn't look alarming at all.
