So I get this 1992 La Corona Petite Corona from a bro on another board as part of a wish. Now I have never smoked anything past say 2000 and I wanted to see what all the hooplah was about smoking vintage (or at least older stuff). Thinking this stick was made the year after I graduated from high school was a cool thought in itself. So the stick was a little over 4 inches, about as round as your pinkie finger tip, and wrapped in cello. It is a machine made cigar (what I gathered from appearence) and a little rugged looking. So I clip the cap and take a dry draw...perfect..and I can taste some sweetness. I ignite it and immediately get a bunch of toasty pepper flavor...then it burns into lots of pepper and spice...it tastes to me like spicy almonds. I can't believe the amount of spice coming off of this stick (X2 Pepin spice)...spice in CC's is something I have never experienced before. Half way through this stick and I am buzzing tough...I can't believe it. I am liking this and already pondering where I can get my next stick. So I finished it and man I don't feel so well....had a full meal of some pesto pasta...what the hell is wrong with me? I smoke ligero's without this much problems....and then...I puked. :barf:

The only other time this has happened to me is with a Don Lino Africa (2 out of the 3 I smoked) WTF!

Well, at least you enjoyed it? Yeah, it's a good idea to really slow down on these vintage sticks, they can burn down pretty quick and give you a swift kick in the gut. I puff these usually less than once a minute so I can really enjoy the flavours. Sure you don't want another one?

One of the cheaper machine made cigars....interesting that you puked given their strength is rated at 2/5. Generally (but not always), cigars usually lose strength over the course of 17 years. Maybe '92 was a banner tobacco crop year or you're just having an off night. Try a La Corona freshie and see if you puke again :glassesgr

I would give it another shot! I like the flavors and I retrohaled the whole stick for the full effect...didn't want to miss any nuances...I was fine until about 10 minutes after I finished it!

I have had a similar experience with a Cusano 18 when I first began my exploration of cigars. Once i start feeling that hard buzz I need to slow down, otherwise I will be in the restroom like I was just downing tequila trains.

I had a similar expeience one early afternoon. My boss and I went to look at some kitchen equipment and had a cigar on the way back. My boss drives like a nut and I hadn't eaten all day. When we get back to work I go into the kitchen to see my guys and all the smells get me. I bolt for the bathroom and puked my guts out. I told the story to my guy at my B&M and he tells me it was the empty stomach on such a full bodied cigar. I have tried that smoke again on a full stomach and he was right. So I feel for you E.
