teran - I'm in the process of learning about the water-based urethanes. i've not used them yet, but once i gather all the necessary info and such, no doubt i'll be making the transition to water-based.

it's just a matter of time before the EPA outlaws all oil-based products.

as it is, you can't find oil-based paint anymore.

i would have to imagine that a water-based product wouldn't smell like the polyurethanes do.

just a hunch, but i can't say for sure

go to your local Sherwin-Williams and ask them to open up a can of trhe water stuff. they'll have no problem doing it. just remember that whatever you smell when they open it is going to be 100 times worse once you start spreading it and increasing the surface area.

I actually think the water based products smell worse, heavy ammonia stink. If you've ever applied floor finish to vct it's very similar with less styrenes and less heavy metals. Less styrenes and heavy metals equal not as hard and durable a finish IMO so you'll be getting a lot of work in call backs down the road.

Nice work on the gym and home. The food looks delicious and the family is beautiful. Smoke it up man. You deserve it.
