I have been smoking cigars for the past maybe 2 weeks and I don't think I am satisfied with cigars. I have smoked Montecristo, nub Habano, nub Cameroon, cuban rounds taste of havana, macanudo imported, A Fuente Grand reserve, and a few months ago I had a gurkha grand reserve. From what I can remember I think the gurkha was the best on I had but I was drunk when I had it so I don't know. I just don't think I like cigars they all taste the same and taste dry.

Here are some of my possible problems. The cigars I have now could be dry maybe I have them in a humidifier that I charged but I don't have a good hydrometer. They have been in there for no more than a week. But I don't think this is the problem.

I like to hot box it and smoke fast. I have learned the hard way this can ruin your smoke so I slowed down and it was a nicer taste but I maybe just can't relax, cause I have to try hard to smoke it slow. So if it is true that you are supposed to smoke em slow then I figure I could smoke a pipe. I don't know if you can smoke them fast too but I have seen pipe smokers smoke fast. And sadly I have enjoyed black and mild's more than cigars and when I smoke them fast they taste okay. I know black and mild's are cheap gas station cigars/pipe tobacco but I like them better. So I figure it is the aromatic tobacco that I like. Are cigars aromatic? (I do not think they are)

Then what do I do with all my cigars that I have and my humidor if I quit cigars. I spent 200 dollars, uhg. Maybe one of you guys wants to buy em for cheap. I am overwhelmed with disappointment either cigars are not what I thought they were or I just have bad cigars.

So I am stuck in a rut can't seen to find a cigar I like and they all taste the same. I figure I will switch over to pipe. The tobacco is cheaper from what I have seen at the local shops and I like black and mild's.

Any advice, help,or input is greatly appreciated. Do not want to make the same mistake with pipes.

Cigars are meant for times of relaxation. Black and Milds are meant for basketball courts. Sounds like your not a cigar smoker. Cant win em all Heh!
Seriously though there is a "sticky" on our front page that would be helpful for you to read!(cigar Primer for new smokers)

Hey I'm a general newb so here are my two cents. Cigars are like Wine, Spirits, Beer. when you first start out they may taste somewhat similar but once you develop your pallete you begin to notice the subtle differences. They are also meant to be savored, take your time and enjoy your cigar. remeber it's a hobby and not everyone likes the same hobbies. about pipe smoking if you smoke fast you will get tounge bite which is not fun. well at least you gave the cigar things a chance.

You have to take your time on cigars or else they will all taste the same and taste bitter.. thats why i usually like to smoke a cigar while hanging out with friends or fishing so that i dont focus only on the cigar and i can take my time on it.. but if you give up i would love to take the sticks off ur hands! and ur humi... just let me know

Now that I think about it I think the only thing I ever do is smoke cigars. I need to entertain myself wit more than just cigars. I usually sit outside or in my garage so there is nothing keeping me busy but my cigar. I am not sure yet if I want to completely give it up but I will let you guys know. My smoking will have to be saved for the parties.

Switching to a pipe will "not" be the answer, you "hotbox" a pipe and you will literally be breathing fire!

You should try smoking with company, possibly in a lounge setting. Being around others who will engage you in other activity besides just smoking may natually grant you the liberty to feel that you can slow down.

Part of the problem may also be the condition of your smokes- try getting something from a local b&m to smoke right after purchase and see of your experience is different.

Good luck finding something enjoyable to smoke! I've been smoking for a couple of months myself and am just starting to pick up subtle flavors and aromas from the tobacco. Just stick with it for a while longer. Take the other's advice and go to a lounge or something. Maybe you'll develop more of a taste for them, and maybe you won't. It's all about time and experience man. Good luck!

For aromatic cigars, try Drew Estates Natural line. From what I understand, they are not infused, but rather they use pipe tobacco to give them their unique flavors. I've had a few and they are completely terrible, but I'm not an aromatic guy. I don't really like a pipe.

Trades and saleson the Trading Zone. Other than that; I think this is just not for ye. At least right now. Why spend $200 on something ye didn't know if ye even liked when ye could buy singles everynow and then? Why do something ye don't like and risk having yer parents find out and get mad at ye (or have ye dealt with that a'ready?)?...

You should probably get a massage since you have a hard time relaxing, IMHO! Sounds like you have a little problem beyond cigar smoking. Maybe your life is just way to tense when smoking cigars it's key to have that time with you the cigar and a buddy if you like. I think in YOUR case a good massage and then retire with a good smoke a glass of scotch and either the radio or a buddy.

You have to remember kids from the tech generation get bored more easily (i am only 26 and can semi relate). They are bombarded with multitasking from their first memories, and when they are not doing multiple things they get bored and lose attention easily.

He is 18, and smoking cigars just at parties probably means he has the wrong mind set. I personally don't think 18 year old's should smoke cigars because they shouldn't have hours of free time, they should be out living it up. Enjoy being 18 and go out and do everything you can. Sometimes I feel like at 26 I shouldn't be taking hours and hours out of my week smoking cigars. I am afraid I will look back and feel like I wasted my dwindling youth. So to you my friend I say come back to cigars when you are in your mid-twenties and life has slowed down a little. Then I think you will enjoy them much more!! :pimp1:

Cigars and pipes are meant to be smoked slowly in order to relax you and wind you down from the hectic workday. Instead of taking time to enjoy your cigar, you are trying to speed up the process and absorb all the flavor from a good robusto into a 10 minute "cigarette break". It just doesn't work that way.

If you can't change the way you smoke, perhaps you should change the size of your smokes. Stick with the short + thin styles, like your Black + Mild. You might also try the Acid line of cigars as they are infused with a variety of herbs, oils, natural flavors and are quite aromatic.
