As a B&M employee I would like to add:

11. If you deposit ash anywhere besides the ash bucket/ash trays know how to clean up after yourself. While the employees are responsible for keeping the place tidy we are not your mother and we are not there solely to pick up your left over garbage and ash piles left on the tables and floor.
And don't put your cello in the ash tray! Use a garbage can!

I agree w all except the Cuban statement. I have never seen the Cuban Inforcement Police officer come in a shake down my B&M. Give me a break.
Though there might not be an enforcement officer, you can get the owner and workers in trouble if it were found out. Is it worth the potential hassle just to be the guy smoking a cuban?

At the very least, if you insist on smoking a CC, smoke it bandless and keep your yap shut about what it is. Anything else is just arrogance.

I thought those were pretty good tips.

One of the B&M's I smoke at recently told a customer very nicely to reframe from "bragging" about the Cuban he was smoking or he would be asked to leave. Several minutes later the gentlemen was walked to the door. They did it very politely so not to make a seen or embarrass anyone. It is posted under their house rules that Cubans are not permitted.

"The second place has a requirement to spend $15 minimum to use their lounge each visit,"

So can you not smoke in the store at all unless you spend $15.00 to use their lounge? :dunno:

Is the lounge that nice? :dunno:

I doubt I'd frequent a place that had a minimum. Not my style of doing business. If your shop is friendly and your prices are fair things will fall into place.

The majority of the stores here in CT you cannot smoke in the lounges unless you are a member. There is one store I spend a lot at and they will not let me smoke in there. They want me to pay $575 for a year membership.

Guys I'll let my shop owner know that next time he goes to reach for 1 out of the box I bring in for everyone now and then. YEESH!
Maybe I'm just to much of a daily reg at our B&M, but most of the time it goes something like this. "Justin what ya smoking?" "A Sir Winnie." "Same box?" "Yep." "Man I love those." "They are great". Thats it. No OMG. Quick hide it. WTF are you thinking. Its just no big deal.:dunno:

I frequent several shops locally that have the same atmosphere you describe and when in Rome I do as the Romans do. I travel on business quite a bit and more than a few of the shops have very pronounced rules posted, that's when a bit of discretion is advisable.

It is the only lounge in the area big enough to host our monthly Saturday herf without feeling like a bunch of sardines in a can, Larry. It ain't the Taj Majal by any stretch, but it is often all we have (in the cold months especially.)

That's cool, I was just wondering. I'm just used to a smoking area w/chairs and couches, big screen tv w/surround sound, wifi, drinks, etc open for everybodies use when you go in the cigar shop.

I guess I'm pretty damn lucky living here in North Carolina!

I wish we had something like that, Larry. The place we go to near Milwaukee every other month is more like that, but they don't allow any outside cigars regardless of what you spend there. The guys have apparently found a new place for us there, but I haven't seen it yet.

The $15 place in IL has a big screen, leather chairs and a few tables, but it isn't as nice as places I've been to in other states...but I do like the option of smoking my own cigars as long as I make a purchase.

First of all, it's not really a b&m; it's a cigar bar. For the money, all you get is access to the upstairs lounge area (very small, maybe holds a dozen?) and I believe discounts on drinks and cigars. In all reality, it's not worth any more than a B&M's $300-$500 annual rates--but what you really get is V.I.P. treatment in arguably the best cigar bar in the entire DFW area, and certainly the one with the best location: it's in the AA Plaza in front of the main enterance to the American Airlines Center (home of the Dallas Mavericks & Dallas Stars).

For comparison, there's an actual cigar shop about 6 block east (Up In Smoke - Uptown location) and their membership fees are only $50 a lifetime--and they've got 6 locations in DFW. It's a good little shop with great selection of sticks (some of the best in Dallas-proper, and certainly better than the $3K cigar bar) but what it's lacking in comparison to the Cigar Bar is:

(A) a bona-fide BAR,
(B) a location outside the AAC, and
(C) lotsa smokin hot chicks with big fake tities and short skirts coming in cuz it's a hot BAR.

Is that worth $3K to you? I dunno if it is to me or not, but so far I haven't paid it--but I've damn sure thought about it. LOL!
