:argh:with cigar beetle!! today i went to a shop about 30 mi from my house for a few nice goodies...including a camacho 11/18 liberty in a coffin...as soon as i get home i opened the coffin to check the cigar...and it has been destroyed by beetles!! so pissed! wanted to respect the shop and not open the coffin prior to purchasing so didnt look before. could be worse, at least i didnt stick it in the humidor right away! (never do anyway, kinda 'quarantine' my new smokes in a plastic bag w a water pillow before they go in the humidor). not really worth driving60 miles roundtrip for one cigar so looks like ill eat this one...just venting sorry

I would at least call them up and tell them your problem. Ask them to send you another or check there stock so more of their inventory doesn't get destroyed if a beetle somehow escapes the coffin. Maybe if they find beetles they will even toss you something for being a good honest customer.

Let them know about the beetles. Trust me, if they are a good vendor, then they will gladly take the call and make it right!
Agreed! Sorry to hear about your misfortune. As Bill said, I'm sure they'll make it right. Wish I had one to send your way, but never had one myself. Let us know how things turn out with the B&M.

Sure, not the end of the world. But why not just tell them your situation with distance from the shop and ask them to hold one for you next time you drop by. I'm sure they'd accomodate you. Doesn't hurt any to ask. Afterall, you did them a favor in letting them know that some of their inventory has been "snacked on."

Yup... sorry about your experience. You hardly ever hear of beetles at B&M's ( At least I've rarely heard of it)

At least you let them know, hopefully they'll make it right!

My first and only experience with beetles came with a shipment of in-house produced cigars from Casillas Cigars; 2020 16th St. Sacramento.

Once I confirmed the presence of live beetles, I emailed them in the same manner they have contacted me post-sales to assure my satisfaction. I wrote a nice note, including close-up photos of the damage. They never responded (I re-sent the note three times) nor sent me replacements.

No worries, their sticks were not that good anyway...........

You would have been better off taking the money you spent with those cats and setting it on fire.

Casillas has the worst customer service in Northern California and their cigars suck too!

That sucks bro never pleasant opening a smoke you really want to try and finding that some bugs have consumed it for you. As for future purchases I highly recommend that you check the cigar before you buy it (I usually ask permission to open a box if its sealed). Almost all the time a good vendor will let you check the smokes before you buy them, they understand its an expensive hobby and you're just ensuring the merchandise is in good shape before you buy. A lot of times the cigars may have torn wrappers or may have been over humidified thus causing them to burst or as in your case be infested so I'm sure they won't mind you taking a look at what you're buying.

I was in Statesville, NC on a trip and stopped into a local "Smoker Friendly"-type place. They had some really cool sticks that were super old and had been discontinued (real neat for Mr. OCD-has-to-try-everything)... except every single thing they had in there was overrun with beetles. They had a box on the floor elling the cigars that REALLY looked like Swiss cheese for 2 bucks a stick. That's right - selling beetle-ravaged sticks for 2 bucks. I slowly backed out of the humidor and ran out the door. :help:
