Just re-wrapped an old Noella with a 'foriegn' wrapper.

No pix this time but it was the finest thing I have smoked in some time. Used the wrapper from an 898 that was plugged to high hell so no real waste of a good cigar this time.

Goes without saying, but I for one can not wait until trade is opened up with Cuba. Would be nice t see what Pepin can do with some of the wrapper from Cuba.

I think he's doing fine with a lot of the tobacco on his farm and he's getting great flavor from his own yields but I think the wrapper is a beast of it's own...as I found out with a hint of the wrapper from the Ramon Allones.

Cool stuff. Here lately I've been wanting to try a double-wrapped stick. I think I might take a couple Tat Angeles and try it next time I grab some.

Switching wrappers ? I guess this is not for the faint of heart. :eyequiver A guide of doing so would be interesting.

I've seen a pictorial on another site. Just get the whole thing slightly damp. Peel off the finish cap, then the next part of the triple cap, and then the wrapper. It should come off pretty easy if you are gently and patient. Then wrap up your stick in the same manner and rest it in the humi for a while to get the extra moisture back out and you are good to go!

I did it. All I did was replace the wrappers. Most cigars have a nice tight form to begin with. Wetting it down is all you need to do and start from the head and unroll it.

Putting the new wrapper on is pretty easy~
Start at the foot and with the wrapper laid down flat just keep it snug as you put rol the cigar on the table keeping a firm grip on the wrapper already on the cigar.

Finish with the Toceador pectin.

I suck at doing caps but there was enough left over to pinch roll a pigtail.

Good work, Rob. So what do you guys think about my idea of double wrapping a stick? Think it would burn ok once the excess moisture was back out of it? Also, where can I get some of the pectin?

I actually got pectin at my grocery store. It's kind of a specialty/hispanic store but I don't know if it would qualify as a product that is only there because of that.

Give rolling a try. It's really not at all that difficult to do & I think it gives you a better understanding of what makes one tobacco different than another. It's one step from taking apart those plugged cigars & re-rolling your own cigars with ligero or seco alone. That's a fun one :)
