Places to smoke in Lower Manhattan ???

Hey fellas, I'm going to NYC in a few of weeks and was wondering if there's anywhere in particular I should go, hang out, and smoke a cigar?

I'll be spending most of my time in the East Village/Lower East side, NoHo, Little Italy, and a little bit in the West Village.

I'm purposely staying in a hotel on East Houston with a cigar-friendly rooftop smoking terrace, but I still wanna hit any cigar "highlights" in the area if there are any. The only place I have earmarked is a cigar bar called "VELVET" on 7th and 1st.

Any other recommendations?

In Little Italy, definitely go to Florio's (one of the very few places you can smoke a cigar and have a drink from the bar)

I like Both of the Cigar Inn's, nice atmosphere (one of them has straight blade shaves)

I'll let others make reco's since thats all I've had first hand experience with.

Isn't Tuba in an entirely different part of the area, like well over an hour away? I think it'd be really tough to meet up--in fact, even TRYING to meet up wasn't in my plans, especially since I'll have wife-in-tow everywhere I go, and she's going to be in charge of most of the plans anyways! LOL

Well, if we could try to hook up, I would be willing to take a train in. It's up to your itinerary planner though! Shoot me a pm if you would like to try to get together one evening. It's about an hour train ride for me.

You MUST go to Florios down in Little Italy. Very good Italian cuisine (the Osso Bucco is a must) and you can smoke in there, and Ferraras across the street is a fabulous bakery. My knees buckled from the aroma the first time I walked in there. And yes, the gelatto is to die for.

Velvet Lounge is a very nice place to go.

Merchant's East is another great place to go.

Club Macanudo is uptown, but a nice upscale place to go.

I'd love to meet you in person, Kevin, but I really don't want to make you take an hour train ride in, bro; that is WAY too excessive. Also, I'm there Mon 7 - Sat 12, and I know I've got plans Friday night, so that means you'd have to come in to the city on a school night; that'd suck for you!

But seriously tho, I don't really think my wife would take too kindly to me spending part of "our" vacation on a cigar night since I just went on vacation last month WITHOUT HER for a purely cigar-related trip.

I'll consider myself lucky if I step foot in any of these recommended places, or if I get to smoke more than a couple of sticks. LOL!

Thanks for the recommendations tho, especially on Velvet since it's only a few blocks from my hotel. I'll definitely check it out, and probably Florios since we'll be in Little Italy for the Festival anyways.

I haven't been to Velvet but when I drove by it wasn't to appealing but it's worth a shot to check it out. I don't think they serve drinks there. Merchant's is a must go for a few reasons. They let you smoke your own cigars with no cutting fee, they food and liquor, nice atmosphere, and they are open until 4 a.m. everyday. They even carry craft beers.

The city is only 15 minutes from where I am so you can always put the wife to sleep and we could meet up for a late night herf. Just a thought.

BTW the San Gennaro festival is awesome and a must go.

Oh yeah, I've been to the San Gennaro festival before. It's awesome if you like eating food cooked on the street in a cart (which I do!)

You know guys, I'll be ONLINE when I'm in NY, so maybe when I'm there and I know what/when we're doing things, I might could sneak in a cigar evening. I dunno tho, so no promises, but I'm not going to rule it out!
