Just got a new Vinotemp delivered today from meijer.com. Seasoning it right now and will keep everybody updated with some pics as its happening, nothing too exciting so far.

BTW, I want to get this right and do it the proper way from the start so I am a little anal about doing things. For example, I have purchased 8 Hygrometers, all of the same brand to salt test them and see which 3 I will keep, just want to keep the three with the 75% RH levels. Too bad the success rate is not pretty good right now.

Seasoning with Distilled H2O, cedar under the bowls and 2.5lbs of beads currently. I had cardboard originally holding the H2O but it started to smell like cardboard and replaced with cedar. I have Spanish Cedar trays in there right now that will hold my singles until my drawers/trays get done.

Put a cork to plug up the drainage hole and have left off the power to the Vinotemp to start with. Once up to speed after seasoning, will turn on unit and go from there.

Thanks,

Bart

there is really no such thing as seasoning a vinotemp. i would wipe down the trays with just a little distilled water. let them sit in the vino for a day, then start using the vino.

Bart and I discussed that very topic on the phone yesterday--however he's got the right idea here seasoning the trays for a day or so.

Also Bart, the more I look at your cork situation, the more I'm starting to think that your plumber's putty might be a better solution. The problem with the cork is that it will get wet, then will dry out, then will get wet, then dry out, etc...and it might not hold up to that sort of instability.

Just another 2¢ :cbig:

Dude,why so many hygros?

and what kind are they? I need some of those.
Acu-Rite..........I have found they are off a little so I buy a bunch, test them and see which ones of them are @ 75% after 24 hours in the salt test, return the others I dont need

Thanks,

Bart

I'd buy one, test it, and then +/- w/e it's off by.
Unfortuantely the Acu-Rite are non-adjustable but I did finally uncover a Digital Hygrometer that has a knob up front to adjust and orderd some.........Yes its overkill but I want all of the Hygrometers I use to be on the same page :rolling:

Nice, but I guess I'll be the A$$ and ask why 6 pics of the same thing?
No problem about the A$$ part :)

All of the pics are different if you look closely....just trying to be as descriptive as I can and keep people tuned in for the journey of the Vinotemp from the beginning and all of my mistakes and successes

Thanks,

Bart

Bart congrats again. If it makes you feel any better I use to mont. my vino on a daily basis. Have two adj. digi hygros in it. Now ive been known to take the hygros out (to work or the b&m) not check on the thing for a few days. My point is njoy the day to day "fun now" once you find out how accurate the beads and vino are (once its full of boxes and singles and cedar trays.) You'll be like the rest of us and only spend 10 seconds deciding what to smoke for the day. P.s. I have never plugged my drain in the vino it sits on carpet in the basement (cool temps never ran this year) and havnt sprayed the beads down since february. Have fun with it. I rember getting mine!
