So the way this works is as follows...

I've learned quite a bit from a lot of the folks on BOTL. What I've learned is not just limited to knowledge about particular cigars, or certain manufacturers, or where to get the best deals, but includes the kinds of things that I consider much more important - things like cigar etiquette and what it really means to belong to this brotherhood.

So, in the interest of hopefully helping one of you out the way some of the guys around here have helped (and continue to help) me out, I'd like to do the following:

If you are new to the site/new to cigar smoking and feel you have benefitted from the time you have spent here, I would like to hear about it. Specifically, I would like to hear some of the brothers here have helped you out and what that has meant to you. This does not require a dissertation on your part and I don't want anything to say anything that they don't mean, but hearing a few sentences about one of the good brothers helps ensure that the love keeps on flowing around this place.

I can do this twice. Please note that this is not a "first two to respond win." This is not about speedy responses...it is about putting a few moments thought into why this place is worth your time and who among the brothers here have made it so. As such, I think it best to allow a community decision as to who the winners are - in other words, all who participate in the thread can speak up as to who they think deserves the smokes.

One last note for the sake of disclosure...these are not super-premium or even premium smokes. These are good cigars intended you as a newcomer to the hobby to help build your collection and broaden your experience.

So...fire away. Tell us of the good deeds of the brothers that have helped you out.

This post is NOT to acquire cigars from you or anyone else, but I do want to say that I have been floored by the generosity of a couple brothers.
I was sick with the shingles a few months ago, saw one brother wanting to sell a very nice AF holiday collection and I commented on what a great buy it would be for someone but I could not at that time, purchase it.
Another, very fine brother, covertly made arrangements for the seller to send the gift set to me. He is one that does not want recognition and has shared the leaf with many of us here. It took the seller to straighten me out on my thanking him publicly, that it was not he, but Shuckins, that I should be thanking; as he had paid him to send me the ultra premiums.
I am not able to spend a lot on cigars at this time and I felt very honored and am very appreciative of the kindness shown by such great men and brothers. I kept saying for many hours and even the next day "I can't believe this"! I hope to one day, be able to do the same for someone else. This is what brotherhood is all about!

Great story! I couldn't agree more about the great Brothers on this site. The generosity that I see daily here, just blows me away. When I first joined Ratbert and Ish both hooked me up with some great sticks, and the Shuck Man sent me a killer 5'er for winning one of his contests.

Matt, this is a great idea and I am looking foward to hearing what others have to say. This was NOT posted to receive cigars, but to again thank everyone here for sharing their love of the leaf.

You guys both sound like great bros (but with some serious reading comprehension issues  ).

All the bros you have guys are mentioned are good people...Shuckins, Ratbert, Ish...good bros.

Kevin (tubaman) made me ribs. They were very good. Seriously though, I'd be hard pressed to single out any individual in this group. The BOTL truly is an example of how the sum total can be greater than it's parts. Kudos to all especially David and Eric for allowing us to play in their sandbox.

PS:
Although the offer is very much appreciated, doesn't feel right to accept cigars for feeling grateful for being a part of this forum.

Just to go along with the other brothers here. I have been on here for less than a month. I think my first week in Blooz4me (AJ) sent me a PM letting me know that he and BrooksW were meeting up at a local shop. I called AJ and was on my way. I showed up ready to smoke some tasty sticks. I brought some extras and so did they. I never like to go places empty handed. They both gave me some sticks I had never had before, a between the lines and not one, but 2 Tat Westies. Great welcome to someone they had never meet before I walked in. It was a good night. We shared information and out love for cigars. Great thing is, we get to do it again this Thursday! Great guys. Plus we'll get to hear Brooks stories from PR.

Also, it is always good meet really sincere, down to earth guys. I have meet some cigar lovers that like to tell you how much they know and how you are clipping, lighting, and smoking your cigar all wrong. None of that here.
