Hey everyone,

Does anyone out there have experience with temp levels in the Edgestar 28-bottle wine cooler? I recently received mine, washed it and let it sit with distilled water and a few empty cigar boxes to get it ready. I haven't plugged the drain yet, I'm waiting to see what happens inside first and I will plug it if the humidity doesn't steady itself.

Now with the cooler plugged in, my problem is that even on the warmest setting, the temp dropped to 62 degrees after a short period of time. I unplugged it to get the temp back up a couple degrees and will try again. I have read on other posts that someone couldn't keep his above 60 degrees...

Does anyone else have this unit and have temp control issues? I am thinking about buying a timer to have the cooler come on every couple hours or so for 15 minutes to move some air and keep the temp more steady around 65 or so.

The temp of the outside air in my house was around 70 degrees.

Any thoughts would be appreciated! :help:

You would really benefit from a RANCO ETC (External Temp Controller), which is an electronic on/off switch that you plug the cooler into. It has a temp sensor on a wire that you run into the cooler--when the temp raises below your desired "set" temp, it switches the cooler on, and when it reaches the "set" temp, it switches the cooler off.

A lot of people (myself included) use them with wine coolers to regulate the temp.

Very cool... thanks! What unit do you use though? They offer a lot of options. Also, do you run the wire through the drain plug or where?

Thanks again! :smokingbo

I use the prewired $74.99 model, ETC-111000-000W

I just taped the wire down through the front door area with black electrical tape. Hit up my profile page and look in my photo albums, there's some pics of my setup including the way I ran the sensor wire.

You certainly can drill out the drain hole and run it through there, tho. BOTL member bartolomeo just did that a couple weeks ago, search for his Vinotemp thread for his pics.

Duane is one helpful MoFo and I agree on the Ranco, definitely one less thing to worry about when using it
