soft flames are preferred by many. the temp is lower than a torch and the initial light is less harsh. i use my IM Corona whenever i can.

I am not sure where I read it but I remember reading that if you used a soft flame like that you are just coating the cigar with the lighter taste..... Maybe that only applies to a zippo???

That applies to lighter fluid, not butane, AFAIK.
