I made an agreement with a Botl member for some sticks. I sent him the check. After several days he stated that the sticks could not be gotten. Ok stuff happens. We agreed that I would accept some sticks from him the value of the dollars sent. Its been about one month and nothing. He once answered one of serveral pms stating that he was very busy and apologized. Again couple of weeks has gone by. I am pmed him again stating that if putting a package was difficult for him at this time no problem. Please drop the check in the mail. I see him on the board at times and pm him when I see he is online and still no reply. WTF!!!. I really believe that he is a good brother. I told him in a pm just let me know whats happening. Last I heard from him was 8/27/09. Anybody has any ideas how to proceed from here. I would rather not mention his name at this point. It is just becoming frustrating seeing him on the board and not getting any replies to my pms.

Dennis,

There seems to be some folks that have commitment issues of late. This is unaccpetable imho. If I can be of some help, let me know. You have sent PM's trying to rectify the situation. Using excuses, when it takes 5 minutes to put together a package and mail it is wrong. If he fails to live up to his end, use the negative feedback rating. This allows others to know of bad behavior. Perhaps this will cause the person to step his or her game up.

Maybe a mod could intervene? That is too long to wait especially if it seems you are being ignored. Things happen but at least he could tell you if something is going on.

When did this transaction first start? I agree with Bill that negative feedback is appropriate at some point, yet still, if it's a member who's somewhat well known, I'd never check feedback before agreeing on a trade/sell/purchase, I'd just do it, so at some point, a name may be necessary to post. .02

Thanks guys. I truly appreciate the input. I would not like to bad mouth anyone. Believe me its not the money its the principle. You guys allowed me to build a trader rating by trusting that I was honest. I appreciate that. I am unsure that all of us realize how trustworthiness is honorable.

As one the new guys around here, I couldn't imagine doing that. This site is all about trust and honor. maybe a admin is the way to go for advice on a situation like this. Is this the first time something like this has happened to anyone? All in all people need to honor their commitments or at least be up front about whats going on. I think we all understand shit happens but be honest and up front.

Andytex this is an excellent site with more than honorable and generous members. I bring this to everyones attention more because of what I am feeling. This does not happen very often. When it does it can leave a bad feeling. I will continue to trust this board and enjoy the discussions and continue to learn more about life with cigars.
We have had some very interesting discussions. lol. We have learned that we can disagree without being disagreeable. The membership here is fantastic.

Sorry to hear that your dealing with this Dennis. You're not the first & won't be the last. But that's why we have trader feedback ratings. Contact a few people, because sometimes the individual has friends here, or people here have additional means of contact. Then an honest trader rating is necessary.

If delivered late - you can still write a 'possitive, but took longer than expected'...
The bottom line is that, though not unheard of, it is still a rare occurance.

Time for negative feedback....
Seems people here are a little too scared to push the red button, I can understand giving someone a fair amount of time but come, some people wait months?? That is just crazy, push the red button and ask for a refund. You might save some other people who are talking to this person right now. I got screwed a few times in the past, all of them happening at another site where there is no feedback ratings, I wish there was and I wish someone pressed the red button before I got involved with them. Just my 2 cents

Please post some negative feedback. I would not want to buy from someone on the forum if I saw the negative feedback. Sounds like you have given the guy plenty of time to be considerate to his situation, but it seems to me like the guy is ignoring your attempts to reach him now. Post the negative feedback and maybe that will get his attention.

sometimes even good people screw up on trades. usually, they will get outed, apologize, and fix things real quick. Other times, outing a person just makes him leave the board (as we have seen in the past). either way, the issue gets resolved. when i trade with friends, we have no time schedule or limits. but when that person is not a friend, or its your first trade, time is of the essence. after 1 month, i would out him to protect other people. bad enough that you are getting jerked around, you would probably feel worse if you found out that the same person screwed somebody else, and you could have prevented it.

also, i hate trader comments. dont get me wrong, they should be there, but when somebody intentionally screws a BOTL, that deserves a more public lashing

the only problem with negative feedback, for me, is i rarely look at the feedback page. if the person has a trader rating, that is normally all i look at. so, if i don't know who that person is by name, i'm at a loss.
perhaps if there could be a second number added to the trader rating, maybe a red number, that would only show up when a negative rating is given, that the mods could place so that it would be available for all to see. a scarlet letter might inhibit some folks from doing something they might not normally do.

I second the idea.
