Is it just me, or are Rocky Patels hard-to-draw?

I don't think I've had one yet that wasn't rolled like a rock. I just fired up an Edge and it was like pulling on the straw of a really thick milkshake.:cursing:

If you've got a vein standing out in your forehead, there's a problem.

Had to re-light a couple times and finally had to set it down to help a customer out ... and the wind blew it off the table, which of course split the wrapper down its length. :sadcry:

I'm not a RP fan, and part of the reason was it seemed like they had construction issues more often than some of the other brands back when I was trying them out. Maybe it was the shop I was getting them from, they do over humidify some times. Curious to hear what others say, don't give my experience much weight, I've smoke maybe 20 RP in my life time.

Brad- i happen to smoke alot of RP's line and enjoy most of them. I had had a problem with the edge just once though and a couple of vintage 99's. all in all I really think you can't go wrong with a RP. I also have noticed that some of the longer sizes tend to have a tough time getting going. I have some owr toro corojos that if they are to humid they tend to draw tough for about the first 1/2 inch or so. Hope this helps.:chat:

I don't have a lot if experience with RP, and my license plate doesn't say RP h8tr...never had a draw issue tho
But it does say Bd M0f0 1 on it!

Rp has been getting worse in "value" overall w me the in the last year once I was introed to many of the "boutique" brands from the botl.

agreed. i'm just unwilling to try any of his new bands anymore. even as a self-professed cigar nerd, i'm unwilling to pay 40 a month to keep up with his unyielding parade of new blends. since last year i think he has unveiled no less than 2 cigars a month. you can't maintain quality with that kind of volume. i'll stick with the cigars of his that i know i like and leave it at that.

every other stick i have from RP has either tar issues(to an extreme) or draw/construction issues.

My experiences have been with the Vintage lines, Sungrown, Connecticut , Edge Lite and OWR. I've probably smoked 40 or so, usually robusto or toro sizes and have only had a couple that had draw issues. I've had far more burn / draw problems with CAO.

I agree with most of the above. I used to be a huge fan of RP's but lately just don't smoke like the earlier ones. Hard draw and the taste of them is not what they used to be imo.

I smoke Rocky Patel quite often probably 3 -4 a week and think the edge is a great smoke. I have had only a couple with a draw problem. I roll them a couple of times between my fingers and they seem to be alright. For the money the edge is a good buy in my opinion.

I've smoked a lot of RP 1990's. I had one cigar about 2 years ago that I remember had a hard draw. All the ones I've smoked since then have been been fine (mostly Toro & Robusto sizes). They may have had a draw issue earlier on but I haven't found any problems recently.

I smoke them all the time and have not experienced any issues as I keep RH at 65 % and have a draw tool that works on even the most difficult hard to draw cigars.
