You just wait once these assholes we call our elected leaders clean house in the tobacco industry they till turn back the clocks 90 years and start back on alcohol. If they keep using kids as an excuse you will have to say good buy to flavored vodkas and other sweet candy like boozes. We're all frogs in the pot of water but we just don't know the heat is being turned up one degree at a time.

Ooh and by the way. kretek will not be banned in the US. The cigarettes had to go through a bit of a tobacco change due to the legislation. They will be sold as small packs of cigars with a different wrapper and a different type of filler. They don't taste the same, but they taste close the customers tell me at the shop.

Thank God! Course now they slapped a cigar wrapper on them and market them as cigars...the smell bad, not sure how they taste as I've never smoked a cigarette, but yeah, I'm all for the ban!

Well, they also want cigars to be considered "drug paraphernalia", according to CRA. That's about as insane a thing as I've ever heard of. It means that if you got pulled over for a taillight being out and they saw cigars in your car, they'd have probably cause to search your entire vehicle.

The problem with them being banned is that it gives easier access to banning other tobacco products. And they will unless something's done.

Anyone supporting the legislation is crazy...I heard yesterday that the Gov't is now targeting ALL flavored tabacco, including cigars. In fact, the GOV'T thinks that flavored cigars is a loophole in the laws........acid, drew estates, etc., better have great lobbyists!

Candy cigarette? WTF.

Will this apply to Drew Estates Ambrosia as well?
Hopefully the whole ACID line will fall off the shelves.

But what if I'm smoking the cigar when I get pulled over? This has happened on more then a few occasions.

What everyone I think doesn't seem to understand is that the govt is slowly killing the goose that laid the golden eggs. There won't be a cut in funding there will just be more borrowed money/taxes to replace the income. No one will be crying, don't you love how our country operates?

According to the "plain view doctrine" of the 4th Amendment that is true...

That's where I see the problem. Now that they will be marketed as "little cigars", guess what the government will move to regulate/ban next? Little cigars! And that is where it starts to affect us.

Same goes for RYO tobacco back in April with SCHIP. The Federal tax on a pound of RYO shot up from $1.10 to $24 a pound. The RYO guys simply relabeled their rolling tobacco as "pipe tobacco". Good on them, right? Except you know Nanny Government will line up pipe tobacco in their sights to tax next... and that's where I have the problem. I smoke pipe tobacco and I know what's coming down the pike.

Wouldn't you like to know?
We have had rumours of such things happening in Canada but still haven't had them come true yet. The funniest thing is that most of the people that smoke cloves from our store are older. 25 seems to be about the youngest I have seen buying them. I think the rules they are looking at imposing here are 2 choices, first is no flavoured cigars under $3 a stick sold as singles, must be 20's. Other choice will be a full ban on flavoured cigars. But woo hoo as Canada doesn't have the strictest laws for once.

Menthol was in the original ban but Phillip Morris wouldn't back the bill if menthol was left in. This bill killed ~25% of Phillip Morris' menthol competition. This bill was a collaboration of anti-smoking lunatics and a big business pushing their agenda to get what they want at our expense.

To those who celebrate this ban, or want ACID cigars banned you are just as bad as the people that backed this bill. Just because you don't enjoy these cigars or clove cigs doesn't mean they should be banned. It's called freedom.
