I am usually pretty tolerant when smoking a stick for the first time. I made it through:

- draws so bad you cheeks hurts half way through.
- Bitterness so bad that your mouth tastes like crap no matter how often you "cleanse" you palette [sp]
- construction so bad that duct tape become smokable
- mold bad enough for penicillin

well you get the point....

Today I lit up a Romeo Y Julieta Reserve Maduro. It had draw problems from the start. Wrapper had many flaws....and the flavor, although I cannot describe it, it made me want to puke! Kind of like when you are drinking and some one else throws up and you get a whiff....

After a quarter of an inch I had to put it down and let it die....I felt so bad...

Going to mourn now.....

thank goodness those are few and far between. sometimes it makes it hard to try something new for that very reason. another thing that this board is good for. let's someone else take the risk for you and YOU read the review!

Sorry to hear. I have one of those sitting in the humi. I will avoid it for a while. Maybe lots of rest will help it.

Ah well, not the worst thing in the world.. I had a couple CCs plug on me in the past... That is annoying to say the least. I had a JO that must have had something wrong with it, I couldn't pull at all.. I am trying to get a nice cigar poker, I liked the ones that N2Adventure had but $100 ea is crazy! You might want to look into one too..

Sorry, bro. It happens sometimes, thankfully not too often.

Two weeks ago I had 3 bad sticks in one week! How crazy is that, right? I started getting concerned about storage issues, etc., but it turned out to just be really bad luck.

Sucks to hear about the "skankgar" dude, have had one or two myself.

Hey Twenty5, pick up a 1/16" drill bit, and have someone braze it onto a 6" piece of steel rod. Works like a frigging charm on plugged cigars since you aren't just poking a hole in tight tobacco that just re-compresses on itself. You actually remove a little tobacco with each insertion/extraction.

I planned to make up a bunch of these to give to BOTL's, but haven't had the time lately.....maybe SantaGar will pop some into stockings.....

There in lies the problem. When I started I was a fuente whore and wanted to broaden my horizons. I was smoking many different brands and found some others I liked. The I smoked a TAT. Now I am a TAT whore and find myself in the same predicament. So I thought I would branch out again...Well I fell hard from that branch. :cbig:

I have a pack of bamboo barbecue skewers, and I keep a few of them tucked in each of my various humidors and cigar cases for just such an occasion. However, if the draw AND the flavor both suck, nothing is going to help. Just do what you did: cut your losses and move on.

OOOOhhh that sounds like a great idea! If I wasn't so special needs when it comes to such things, I'd make one myself, lol.

I have a stick that got wet in the avanti. I put it in a dry box. It doesn't look so good but I will give it a try. It got pretty wet.
I will be ridding myself of the avanti real soon

That's gotta beat the paper clip I use, good idea!

My first cigar I have thrown out was last week. I immediately went in for another, but I could not get that nasty taste away...
