Anyone get this yet? My 12 year old had her birthday party this weekend, afterwards 4 of the girls stayed the night. Well, one of the girl's mother called and said she took her to the doctor and she has swine flu. My daughter was running a fever yesterday (school holiday). Now this morning she is at 102.5, I waiting to take her to the doctor.

Absolutely get her there. I feel that 14 yr old's mother here waited too long.

Hope all is well, and she gets better soon!

I'm sick but I took my temp and I was at 96.8 instead of an increased fever. My illness seems to be subsiding. I keep drinking coffee and eating soup.

Definitely get her checked out. I think the most susceptible are the 15-25 age range if I remember hearing correctly.

My mom actually just got over the swine flu. Get to the doctor because the earlier the more the doctor can do for you. And get yourself some hand sanitizer and clorox wipes to disenfect everything because the doctor told us that direct contact is the only way swine flu is spread

She did indeed have the flu. Which type, not unless I want to spend another $300 to find out which strain, H1N1 or just the normal influenza virus? the doctor said that she just needed to go home, get plenty of rest, keep taking advil/ibuprofen, get plenty of fluids.... She being a healthy child it should be nothing. There has been concern about kids not getting TamiFlu as the CDC has said not to give it out to those that are not in a high risk group. Plus, it has little (if any) impact of the virus.

Just there has been 5 deaths of kids within the lat week or so here in the Dallas area. Here is one of the latest - and notice how the media talks about her not being given TamiFlu.

They are only testing 1 out of every 10 people since the test is so expensive. The other 9 they basically diagnose with swine flu.

My county I teach in is just starting to feel the effects of that rationale.

yes, because as my daughter's doctor said, it is the only strain of flu out there right now. the regular flu season is a bit off.

Plush, the lesson learned from the article is if you childs sickness is being treated and continues to degrade, don't stay on the sidelines, make noise at the Dr's office.

The information available regarding the effectiveness of Tamiflu is all over the map. The one thing apparently agreed on is currently it's the best treatment available.

Best of Luck.

It is not if, It is when, At the Savannah River Site Dept. of Energy , we have over 7000 people working on this site and have had 30 + employee come down with a flu bug, as David said the Doc. and the hospitals are telling people to stay home and send someone to get a Rx for them...The cases that the Doc have seen a large % have been the H1N1...At the DOE Site when it happens ( we haven’t been told what the number will be of how many more flu cases they will allow ),before we/they will lock the gates to the outside world and all the non sick people will be forces to stay at the site, we are getting ready to run fire crews 14 days on and then shift the next crew another 14 days.....It is fucking crazy each day we have to call in how many folks in each department are sick and if that sickness is shutting down any operations….. (all because of a few atomic bombs were made at this place and three reactor are in a shut down mode) ……we are having fun now …..
