There is no doubt that Don Tomas produces some cheap sticks, and from what I understand they used to be a terrible smoke in the past. However; I have really been enjoying their cigars over the past few months as an everyday smoke. The sun grown rothschild and maduro are a solid 30-45 minute smoke and the classico's are not without their charms as well. That being said, does anyone else on the forum enjoy Don Tomas? Does anyone have a similar cigar that i should try?

Thanks!

Out of all the Don Tomas's i have, the Classico's are my least favorite. The Sun Grown Rothschild are always intriguing though. The maduro Rothschild has a great taste that is on par with CAO in my opinion (hope i don't get flamed for that one)

I doubt you will get flamed...I have had a few of their sticks....been a few years ago, but they were good cigars, I want to say it was a robusto.

During the cigar boom they offered decent smokes.

Wknd.

Don Tomas Cameroon Perfecto #1 is one of my fav cheap quick smokes. Time to pick up a box.. Usually about $50 for 25 smokes. Otherwise I don't know.

I like the Sungrown. I usually keep them around to smoke when I'm grilling. It has great construction and the flavors are nice.

Yea, after I just got done bragging on them I lit up a Maduro, and it is having major issues. The wrapper is starting to un ravel, the taste is all off. Maybe its too dry? I brought them back from dallas unhumidified and they have only been in the humidor for a day and a half?

Don Tomas is made by General cigar. So that's probably why some are good some are bad... if you like all of the different Don Tomas cigars, try some of Rocky Patel's lines like his Sungrown and Vintage lines. If you like those and CAOs, you may also like Carlos Torano cigars like the Casa Torano, Exodus 1916 Cameroon and maybe the Reserva Selectas.

I wouldn't say RPs are the best cigars out there, but i think you'd like them as much or more than the Don Tomas line...
RP does make some good smokes. I like his Vintage 92, Connecticuts are good too. As far as price goes I dont think it gets much better than the Padron 2000 Maduro. On the milder side I like the Gran Habano Ct. #1.

Padron 2000 maduro is hard to beat for the price. I haven't found anything close.
