So, now what do we do to fix it? Do we even care to fix it?I couldn't agree with ya more... I guess we're just screwed lol. I think that is in part due to the advancement of technology, it's a bitter-sweet. My wife and I aren't able to own our own house because we don't make enough with our business. Luckily I have a FT job to suppliment. I agree with you about helping alot of people that need the tax $, unfortunately it seems like there's more people who abuse it than who genuinely need it :^/ I agree we, as a nation, have sold out... We totally support communism with our money, and it's partly our fault. Meanwhile, we cant enjoy a good CC... hypocritical of Uncle Sam isn't it?
Nope. maybe $3.00 in gas. It's not even a 5 minute drive from my driveway. Probably less than a mile away. You cheap-arse!! :stretchgr
You probably spend more than $30 in gas, running back and forth!

This is why the Fair Tax makes sense. Business's are not taxed, only people spending money. If this were passed more business's would come to us instead of going somewhere else, why you ask because they would not pay taxes. If you owned a business and had to choose between remaining in America and being taxed up the yin yang or moving over-seas and making more profit, which would you choose? Im a small business owner and you have absolutely no idea how much businesses are taxed. Money that we make is taxed three times! In fact, we have not made a profit in over two years. nearly 30% of our earnings goes to things like butterfly studies and saving smelt whilst starving people. If I could choose to take my business over-seas, I would too. Its not about pride, its about survival (for the small business) and success (for larger businesses).
My only fear with a Fair Tax system is that the government, not knowing how to operate without the annual theft of money from its citizens by the coercive IRS, would instate the Fair Tax with the promise to pull the IRS back in increments so the sticker shock wouldn't be bad. And that's what has me so concerned! The government voluntarily repealing the IRS just isn't going to happen... were we to instate a Fair Tax system, the IRS would have to go on day one of the Fair Tax system rolling out- it would be way too easy to have a federal income AND sales tax, which is what I fear would happen. This is why the Fair Tax makes sense. Business's are not taxed, only people spending money. If this were passed more business's would come to us instead of going somewhere else, why you ask because they would not pay taxes.
Try running a cigar distributorship! I work for one, and with taxes in California (plus the new SCHIP taxes), effectively 52% of our "profit" is scooped off the top by Nanny Government just for tobacco taxes. Then we have all the above fees, as well, along with a several thousand dollar importers/distributors license, business licenses, various California fees for doing business within the state ($1000 LLC licensing fee, now). It's crazy! And then the FedGov pulls the SCHIP bullscheisse with retroactive floor taxes... Granted, this time we dodged the floor tax bullet since "large cigars" were exempt, but we still had to pay over $10,000 for the "little cigars/cigarillos" that we distribute. Had the large cigars not been exempt, with over 40,000 cigars on hand at any given time- well, I wouldn't have a job right now if that were the case.I too own small business and taxes and insurances, Payroll, materials, rent, utilities, auto expense (payments ,gas and repairs) are 90%+/- of my costs leaving 8-10% profit if everyone pays.
I dont hate Walmart, but I dont shop there.
I dont complain about it, just show my preference with my dollars.
