I couldn't agree with ya more... I guess we're just screwed lol. I think that is in part due to the advancement of technology, it's a bitter-sweet. My wife and I aren't able to own our own house because we don't make enough with our business. Luckily I have a FT job to suppliment. I agree with you about helping alot of people that need the tax $, unfortunately it seems like there's more people who abuse it than who genuinely need it :^/ I agree we, as a nation, have sold out... We totally support communism with our money, and it's partly our fault. Meanwhile, we cant enjoy a good CC... hypocritical of Uncle Sam isn't it?
So, now what do we do to fix it? Do we even care to fix it?
I was gonna say that about the CC thing....lol!

one that costs $75,000. My point exactly, just because a person owns a business does not mean they're loaded. We're just average, hard-working people. I drive a ford ranger and my wife drives a jeep. It's just tough to make it, and the PTB want to jack up taxes. They say anyone or any business clearing $250,000 will be taxed like crazy. I remember then pres. elect Obama saying a very small percentage of small businesses clear $250,000. Well, in the way they judge the size of a business, we are the smallest it gets and we clear +- 500,000. HOWEVER, that is not in profit; the vast majority of it goes into bills. As I said before, we have not made a profit in over two years. The pres. makes it sound as if all money brought in is profit, but it's not. If I sell a plate of food for $8, the gov't sees me making $8. However, I have to buy the food, utensils, napkins, plates, condiments, grease to fry in, utilities, labor, building payment, taxes, accountant fees, etc. In the end, although it looks like we're making $8, we're really only making about $1-$1.5 out of all that.

M. Moore....more like M. Moron...Guys a tool and thats that. People should take a look at the Libertarian party if it's change you want and we really need it, maybe it's time to give this party a chance. Socialism/Obamaism is just around the corner. Our goverment has really stripped the HARD WORKING American people of any practical preservation. Both Dems and Repubs have taken everything this country has stood for and shot it to hell. The future is very dismal at this time and the Government needs to shut up and listen or history may repeat itself.
Hope you get that house STROKE!!

If you owned a business and had to choose between remaining in America and being taxed up the yin yang or moving over-seas and making more profit, which would you choose? I’m a small business owner and you have absolutely no idea how much businesses are taxed. Money that we make is taxed three times! In fact, we have not made a profit in over two years. nearly 30% of our earnings goes to things like butterfly studies and saving smelt whilst starving people. If I could choose to take my business over-seas, I would too. It’s not about pride, it’s about survival (for the small business) and success (for larger businesses).
This is why the Fair Tax makes sense. Business's are not taxed, only people spending money. If this were passed more business's would come to us instead of going somewhere else, why you ask because they would not pay taxes.

I too own small business and taxes and insurances, Payroll, materials, rent, utilities, auto expense (payments ,gas and repairs) are 90%+/- of my costs leaving 8-10% profit if everyone pays. This year alone I've had 5 clients file for bankruptcy. We will lose money again this year and will raise our rates to help cover these loses making those who do pay, pay more. This is a double edged sword though we don't want to price ourselves out of the market but can't afford to keep the status quo. If I could be based overseas I'd do it in a heart beat to taxes alone.

Hey Stroke I feel your pain totally. I owned a small diner and catering business that was in the family for 30 years. Me and my sister took it over in 2002 when the business was struggling due to chains opening down the road. We built it back up for a little while but the couldn't compete with the likes of Wendy's, Dunkin Donuts, Ruby Tuesdays, and a couple others that moved into the neighborhood. Well I found a buyer for the property. A Dunkins wanted to build a small strip mall there and the neighbors are fighting it and I have been in litigation for two years now. The ironic part is the neighbors that are fighting it were all my previous customers and alleged friends. I took a executive chef job to try and hold on till the completion of the sale but it wasn't enough because the MA. D.O.R decided I didn't pay enough in meals taxes and now takes $250 a week from me on top of the regular state taxes I get deducted. Good luck Brother and keep on trying.

I'm glad I'm not alone. If it were up to me, the only tax would be a flat 25% sales tax across the board, that's it! You can't tax crack, but crack dealers gotta eat too! I think they would make much more money and it would be alot more fair. Thanks, Saully. I truly believe in our food. As a matter of fact, fitness is huge to me and I still cant resist the fish or shrimp!

My only fear with a Fair Tax system is that the government, not knowing how to operate without the annual theft of money from its citizens by the coercive IRS, would instate the Fair Tax with the promise to pull the IRS back in increments so the sticker shock wouldn't be bad. And that's what has me so concerned! The government voluntarily repealing the IRS just isn't going to happen... were we to instate a Fair Tax system, the IRS would have to go on day one of the Fair Tax system rolling out- it would be way too easy to have a federal income AND sales tax, which is what I fear would happen.

I too own small business and taxes and insurances, Payroll, materials, rent, utilities, auto expense (payments ,gas and repairs) are 90%+/- of my costs leaving 8-10% profit if everyone pays.
Try running a cigar distributorship! I work for one, and with taxes in California (plus the new SCHIP taxes), effectively 52% of our "profit" is scooped off the top by Nanny Government just for tobacco taxes. Then we have all the above fees, as well, along with a several thousand dollar importers/distributors license, business licenses, various California fees for doing business within the state ($1000 LLC licensing fee, now). It's crazy! And then the FedGov pulls the SCHIP bullscheisse with retroactive floor taxes... Granted, this time we dodged the floor tax bullet since "large cigars" were exempt, but we still had to pay over $10,000 for the "little cigars/cigarillos" that we distribute. Had the large cigars not been exempt, with over 40,000 cigars on hand at any given time- well, I wouldn't have a job right now if that were the case.

I do believe you could look up grand theft in the dictionary and you would see a picture of the State Board of Equalization and the IRS.

I was poor growing up and my parents bought lady lee and tombstone pizzas along with the cheap ass shoes and everything else to get bye. My prob with Walmart shoppers is alot of them cry "I'm having a ruff time gettin by, so I forced to shop here" so thats why we shop here. Then quit putting the 18 cases of pop in the cart, 30 frozen pizzas, 6 boxes of hohos, 14 china outfits, 6 blue-ray movies that came out this week and 7 new toys to keep the kids quite. I know what gettin by was and this isn't it. But yes I choose just not to shop there 95% of the time.

Pay me now or pay me later... Wal- Mart is not cheaper.

One good dress shirt from Sears for $30, lasts as long as two $15 dollar shirts at wal-mart. Plus the Sears shirt looks and fits better the whole time.

Wal-mart is a scam.

No doubt about quality but for kids clothes that they outgrow or destroy quickly why pay the extra. This goes for my work clothes, I can destroy 3-4 pair of jeans in a winter the same with shorts in the summer. I'm not going to wear designer jeans or even Levi's @$35+ when Carharts or Dickies will work for less then $20 (although Carharts have gone up recently).
