I am familiar with the Saiga 12 as I own an AK-47. I doubt you will be disappointed if it is as reliable as my trusty AK. For my home defense I have a New England Pardner Pump 12 Ga. Express Mag, and a Remington 1100 Tactical

Just picked it up on Thurday along with a 10 shot magazine. I got a feeling that this is going to be a fun gun to shoot. This shotgun is alot lighter than I thought it would be. Now I just need to strip it down and put some lube on it. (ha ha) After that I hope to make it out to a range before the end of the month. Will give you a report when I get the chance.:thumbsup:

Haha. It's a good gun. I don't much care for the cartridge stop and interuptor come out completely when you take it apart. It's kind of a pain in the arse to get them back in. That's what I liked about the 870, they're hinged. My buddy bought an 870 and couldn't take it apart so I had to help him out.

If you're only going to buy one gun, get a shotgun. They're so versatile. You can load them with slugs, buckshot, birdshot, or just rock salt. Short barrels for self defense, long barrels for hunting or skeet shooting.

It depends on what you will be using it for.

Handgun for carry and will do the job for home defense

Shotgun Better for home defense and you can hunt and shoot skeet.

I have a mossberg 500 Special Purpose but my friend has a Saiga 12 like what you bought. His has the shorter barrel, 18.5 inches I think, and he has the original 5 round mag, 2 ten round mags, and that 20 round drum mag you had posted on the OP. Its a sweet gun to mess around with and just have fun.

I want to have a tromix modded Saiga 12 so bad. That would be sweet it you were swat or something. Short and powerful perfect combo for room clearing and with a box mag how can you beat it for reloads. Not to mention picking between slug or shot.
