Ebay help - sold tickets

Hey guys - I have never had this happen before. I had been on Ebay since 95. I have sold and bought my fair share. The things I sell most are concert tickets that I am going to. I buy 2 for myself and sell the other 2. I am going to the U2 concert at the new Cowboys stadium on Monday. Anyways- I sold the other 2 tickets I had, auction ended on Thursday. The auction said, they would be sent out USPS Express 1 day shipping. I sent them out Friday morning and was told they would be there on Saturday before 3:00. I emailed the guy and told him. Now today, he says that USPS came and no one was home and they required a signature to accept. I do not know if this is the case with USPS on Express letters? USPS did not tell me so. Now the guy wants his money back as the USPS is closed on Monday. Anyone else have any experience with his?

If the guy puts in a dispute, I'm just wondering how it might go.

I basically told the guy - Dude, you won the auction and it said it would be shipped USPS Express mail, it is your responsibility to make sure you are there to accept your package. I emailed you and told you the package would be there on Saturday before 3:00. The auction says no returns and if you have any questions ask them before bidding.

Sounds fair to me. He knew the concert was on Monday and should have been there to recieve his package. I doubt Ticketmaster would refund the money if you weren't home to get the tix.

As for as Ebay is concerned: you did everything that you were obligated to do as the "seller". The "buyer" did not do everything he was supposed to do, you sent him an e-mail stating the terms and conditions for him to receive the concert tickets. Point is it was his fault, not yours...

Off topic, but I have Red Zone tickets to the show as well First concert in about 10 years, so hopefully it will be a good one

Depends on how important feedback is to you, your % feedback, power selling rating, and how you feel the transaction went.

You can pretty much guarantee that he is going to give you negative feedback so you have to weigh what that is going to your future auctions.

THIS is a perfect example of why I do not have an EBAY account and probably never will.

There is a tracking number on express mail as well to confirm your side. If you used ****** for your transaction your covered too! Ebay sales is a contract buy so the buyer is responsible for his end of the deal. Your listing stated no refunds and he won knowing this so as long as you sent the pkg when you agreed to and have the proof to back it, you are no longer liable for the transaction. I sell alot on ebay and have had a few run-ins like this. Both Ebay and ****** will back you as long as your end of the deal was upheld.

While I understand his frustration, he is clearly at fault. At least he still has Monday to either sign the card to leave in his mailbox or go the the post office & pick the tickets up before the concert.

You can respond to the feedback if he leaves a 'negative' can't you?

Wow, that sucks for both of you. It's tough that it wasn't clear he had to sign so I understand his complaint. But as far as ebay rules go, you proved that the tickets arrived on Saturday (assuming there is a DC #) and the guy should not win a claim against you. You can also show you emailed the guy saying it was coming by 3pm Saturday which will help your cause. But like Cyrann said, how much do you value your feedback? If it's that important to you, maybe you can compromise and give half his money back once positive feedback is received. Don't do any compromise until that positive feedback is received, or he could always still give you negative after you give money back.

Yeah USPS requires a signature since it is a guarenteed service. the clerk usually askes you if you want to waive the signature requirement. anyhow, if i had tickets to U2 coming i'd be sitting in front of my waiting on that mailman. hey it's his fault the tickets didn't get to him so i don't think he's entitled to a refund, but it's up to you what you want to do.

I too have bought & sold quite a bit on ebay. I feel you did nothing wrong on your end. You kept up your end of the deal. He needs to be responsible for his end.

Thanks guys for the comments. This was my thinking as well. Dude, your butt should be waiting for them to arrive as he knew it was a timing issue and he even sent to me that the PO would be close on Monday. This is why I put in Express delivery as I knew it would get there on Saturday.

Yeah, I wanted those as well, the GF did not. She wanted a nice seat and not to be standing all the time. I normally go to 2 or 3 concerts a year. I love going to Edgefest and getting in right up front where you get smashed and its hot and the girls are hot and sweaty as well Of course my GF did not like this as she got hammered a couple of times when people started crowd surfing. I am in section 2xx something. We decided we wanted to only spend a $100 each not the $200 each.

I have bought and sold hundreds of motorcycles and motorcycle parts on ebay and know these situations suck. If he has yet to leave feedback and you would like to continue to sell on ebay the best thing to do would be comply with his demands and refund his money. On the other hand if he has already left you feedback then forget about it. He was definitly in the wrong here and you did nothing wrong. Did you check the tracking number or is there a possibility he got the ticket and lied about not getting it?

Leaving feedback in retaliation is not premited...so if he files a dispute just keep all your e-mails and proof and they will remove any negative feedback he leaves.

Is this a newer feature? Because in the past once the feedback had been left it could not be removed unless both parties agreed upon it.

My wife sells a bunch on E-bay and she had a negitive feedback left after she accepted a return and refunded all the money including shipping (a coat listed as purple, that wasn't purple enough) E-bay removed the negative feedback and I doubt the other party agreed.

I personally hate E-Bay and P**P**. E-bay is filled with scammers and getteing worse everyday. **'s rules are borderline illegal imo, if any other banking entity tried what they do they would be shut down and the media would crusify them.
