Hope you guys Don't mind me venting a bit! As some of you know Martha and I rescue Australian Cattle Dogs that are unwanted or abused and find homes for them. Well this weekend we got an email that there was a 12 week old ACD puppy at one of our local shelters and that the pup had a broken leg and needed help. So we contacted the shelter and verified the situation and then drove over to see the pup. Sure enough he had an issue with his left rear leg. So the shelter said they weren't going to pay to have it repaired and they planned to put him down at 5pm Monday (today). So we said we would take him to the vet and pay to have his leg looked at. We were told no that they couldn't let us take him until today in case the owners came looking for him. So he had to sit there all weekend with a messed up leg. Then we go to the shelter and spring the little guy and get him to our vet and what do the xrays show? A broken leg? NO it shows that some @#%%^&&& shot the little guy with a high powered pellet gun or bird shot and one of the 3 pellets is lodged in his spine and caused nerve damage to his leg and crippled him. WHAT KINDA PERSON SHOOTS A 12WEEK OLD PUPPY!!!! My god what kinda people do stuff like this? Anyway we have him now and will find him a home but I wish I could get my hands on the people who did this. I just hate people sometimes

Three pellets ain't no accident. People are so effin' cruel. I hate it for the pup.
Is the pup's condition only affecting one leg? I'd have a hard time justifying keeping a pup that's lost the use of both hind legs alive considering the hardship it'd go through. However, we had a hunting beagle with three legs that did just fine. Bubba lived to 17 years old and was quite a sight to see in the field. He was one of the best jump dogs we ever had.

Man if I found these people I'd shoot them with a lot more than just pellets.. I can't understand being cruel to animals for shits and giggles how can one's pain be amusing for another? (with the due exception of one falling off his chair which is always funny). Seriously if you have kids who find shit like this funny its time to take them in for a consult.
That was no accident. That is like saying Michael Vick accidentally ran dog fighting. Folks that harm puppies like this needs to receive the same type of treatment.
I agree with everyone, but there are some really small kids who play with pellets rifles. I'm glad to see some loving dog owners here. I have 4 dogs that are my own and 6 that we are fostering, if anyone ever........

I hope whoever did this rots. Slowly and miserably.
We see this kind of abuse once in a while with the rescue we work with. And with
deer season coming up we'll see some more. Thankfully the Vet clinics around here
are more than willing to work with us in helping these animals.

yes its only effecting one leg and luckily its not totally useless it just seems to be numb so he can use it some but gets a little wonky with it when he walks. he really is not letting it slow him down really full of life and still doesn't dislike people.
I don't have the stones to be able to see that kind of abuse/neglect on a regular basis. Much respect, and thank yous, to those of you who do have the ability to see it, and help. Someday, I'll adopt a dog or two beyond the one I currently have.
