Well brothers for the past two months I have been working toward joining the coast guard on Monday and Tuesday I will be going through meps processing I know there are quite a few of you that are x millitary or curently Serving any advice would be great. Also I know this is in great demand but if anyone is getting an extra box of Dracs if they could grab me one as I think I will be at basic when they come out and don't want to miss out. Tia for advice and help.

Hey I wish you the best, I'm in the navy and have been for the past 11yrs and I've had more good times than bad...It's all what you make out of it!!! You'll have a great chance to see the world all on uncle sam's dime...An advantage the coasties have is they don't have to see a ship, I think it's all by choice and you can always get out and work for homeland security...So take advantage of everything they have to offer...Some times and jobs will suck, but it's "all business never personal"

best advice i've ever been given about military service, is to take advantage of every opportunity you are offered or hear about, cause they will take everything that they can from you.

not being cynical, it sounds it, but anyone that ever served should know what i'm talking about!

don't drop the soap... Seriously, at MEPS you just go through the motions man. If you have medical problems, let em know after you finish basic ;^) At basic, just do what you're told and you're good to go.

It went well I scored a 95 on the ASVAB but because the coast guard no longer takes body frame size or body fat analysis I have to loose six pounds not to big of a deal though.

My father was in the Navy and my sister is now in the Navy ROTC program I took a real hard look at what I like to do and were my passions were because I was not interested I'm my current major then one day I was wearing a USCG hat the my dad had because he is a captain of a research ship on the great lakes and people give him hats. So I was wearing this hat and someone asked me if I was in the coast guard that go me thinking about it and it sealed to really fit me. I like to help people I like the ocean lifestyle and I would be proud to serve my country in the coast guard.
